Oh, throwing out the Constitution are we now? And the Centralized federal government is now communist. Get a bit over your depth.

Sorry, already decided by both Heller and lower courts including the liberal 9th.

Militias are to turn up armed and equipped (to include packs water food etc) essentially immediately upon call up.

If you can't have arms at home or with you where you are when called up, its sort of difficult to produce arms on no notice and stand ready to defend the nation.

Since the well regulated militia bit is in the prefatory clause which does not alter the operative clause (the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. ) but simply explains reasoning generally it makes perfect sense. For a militia to form from the citizenry, the citizenry must be generally armed. If they are to be generally armed, then you cannot infringe on their right to keep (possess) and bear (carry with you in form able to be set to purpose) arms.

Factual. Democrats, especially those on the far left, do not respect the first or second amendment.

Only the rich get to conceal guns in CA. CA is a lost cause imo.

Most of the state still issues CCWs. Los Angeles only issues them to judges, politicians, and the wealthy.

I've known a few folks that got a CA CCW. All of them were only able to get it when they were regularly transporting someone elses money as part of their job. CA cares about protecting money, not ppl.

That sounds about right. 80% lowers were popular at gun shows, so many people built AR pistols. They were called ghost guns since there was no serial number on them. Gov Brown vetoed the ban saying that putting a number on a gun does not make it any safer. He quickly signed the ban into law along with the next round of gun control laws.

Its very frustrating living in a constitution-free zone.

Easy for who? The criminals? Let me guess, you chose eight because its lucky in China, right? Or did you use some other arbitrary and meaningless method?

Exactly. But what is really rediculous is to think anyone who can actually shoot needs a lot of bullets to do the job. Of course if your are fighting an alien invasion that is a different story. Or as one poster said what if I am attacked by an entire motorcycle gang.

Even the best shot can miss, and there could be more than one target. It isn't aliens and invasions the Founders' envisioned when they wrote the 2nd, it was tyrannical monsters of a more local variety, almost as if they could foresee the evils of Marxism...

So now the gun owners need high capacity magazines to defend against Marxism. Getting a bit desperate with your rationalizations.

    I live in hurricane country. A group of 5 or 6 looters isn't a far-fetched scenario.

If the destruction is such that widespread looting is taking place you would have to have been a damned fool to still be there. And if you are fool enough to risk your life to protect your goods my guess is several well placed shots would be adequate to make the looters look for easier loot.

Doesn't take a lot of devastation to take out the power grid and phone system. It's not far fetched. There were examples of this after Andrew.

The point is that I have no way to contact the sheriff's department.

How is defending your property foolish? And where exactly do you expect everybody to go after a natural disaster like that? In many cases natural disasters happen suddenly or change dramatically as was the case last year in my fathers town where a mere run of the mill tiny hurricane turned into a Cat 5 direct hit literally overnight and destroyed the entire town. I was down there visiting earlier this year, months after the storm it still looked like a war zone there and driving around I saw rudimentary signs on most peoples houses stating something like "Is my stuff worth your life?" or "We WILL shoot you".

Thousands of folks in that area of the country were literally trapped in those towns, and even once the storm passed many had nowhere else to go. Contrary to popular belief the government doesn't just put you up in a hotel until your town is rebuilt. FEMA was cutting people enough money to maybe stay a week or so away if that once the check arrived. And if you didn't have good insurance you were out of luck getting your home repaired and even if you had insurance you were in a long line while the thousands of others got their homes repaired. Even to this day hundreds if not thousands of homes are sitting there in shambles with blue tarp roofs with folks living in them.

It's easy to talk in absolutes, but these are real scenarios that happen. Not everyone can afford to just pack up and leave their lives behind after a major event like that. Florida panhandle 2018 and the aftermath of the largest hurricane to ever hit was one of those scenarios where you better hope you had a means to defend yourself and your property.

Exactly. Michael was a non-typical storm. I live in Pensacola, so the track was never really on me, but I still followed Michael's track and forecast. I probably would not have evacuated from Michael, because of how fast it spun up. It wasn't a particularly dangerous storm (level 2 or so) until less than a day before it hit, which is too late to evacuate.

Exactly. My father lives in the Panama City area. I remember speaking to him the night before and it was just a casual conversation as always with another hurricane heading their way with little worry. It was only a Cat 1 or 2, nothing dramatic as far as Floridians are concerned. I woke up the next morning and turned on the news and noticed that the storm went from a Cat 2 to a Cat 5 while we were asleep. I called my father immediately and he was telling me that evacuating was out of the question now, the town was being hit directly and the roads were literally blocked with debris and flooding. Then the phones went dead and I was terrified for him.

Long story short after the storm the entire town was virtually destroyed. Many folks were killed and almost everyone had significant damage to their homes and other property. Massive tornadoes stretching from PCB to Tallahassee flattened everything. Mexico Beach was pretty much wiped off the map completely. Mere hours after the storm passed to looting began. I distinctly remember my elderly father telling me about how he sat looking out of his shattered windows as folks ran around ransacking peoples property who had evacuated. A group of looters came strolling up to his house and he shouted and brandished the AK-47 that I left there for him years ago. They panicking and ran off and this trend continued for weeks afterwards. He's a small elderly man who has no chance of fighting off attackers or intruders, but a rifle pointed at them sends them running off. He likely doesn't remember how to even operate that firearm (I showed him but he was never interested in trying to use it) but him just presenting it to intruders was enough.

When I went there to visit earlier this year the first thing he said was thank you for leaving that gun here, I don't like the thing and I keep it tucked away in the back closet but after that storm I'm very glad I had it, folks were looting everyone's homes around here and they were coming here all the time to take advantage of an old man who lives alone who just had his property destroyed.

Yeah "assault rifles" are scary looking. Good, they should be. The scary looking AK-47 was what protected my elderly father from looters and possible attackers after a devastating storm, even though he had no real idea how to operate it.

That's what I think anti-gunners fail to realize--the amount of times guns are used to stop crimes without being shot. There is a reason that the Colt .45 Revolver was called the Peacemaker. It also gives the weak and frail a chance for self-defense.

Sorry but you are confusing defending your property with the assumption that massive firepower is necessary to accomplish that goal.
