I have held the opinion for quite awhile that our refineries ought to shutdown for, uh, I don't know, let's say six weeks. And I don't mean by the unions, I'm talking about the owners. Greta and all her friends can go sailing, wee! wee!

It seems to me to show an incomplete knowledge of 21st Century civilization to speak of immediate bans on upstream exploration before we have constructed a massive electrical grid supplied transport infrastructure. Not to mention all of the wind, solar and "other clean" power generation that will be required. That "other clean" isn't all that clean or safe if it's nuclear power, is it. All that improperly contained nuclear waste we keep kicking down the road....

I have no idea what the finished fuel supply chain storage capacity is, but given refinery nameplate crude production and general fuel consumption, I doubt very much anything would be going anywhere in the US if our refineries shutdown for 6 weeks. Production and consumption are reported here, https://www.eia.gov.

No fuel at the pumps. How did that KSA lead 73 embargo work out for US. No planes, trains, tractors or combines, automobiles, boats or ships.

Can anyone remind me who the Boston comedian is that used to use, **** so effectively? Had a funny bit about mom fixing a nice hot sweaty pork loin for Sunday Summer Supper....

Just can't let it go can ya? :)

It's the equivalent of a team getting more hits in a baseball game but less runs. Does not really count for much in the big picture.

What your post underscores, IMO, is that the "progressive" energy agenda is about power and control - not the environment. I also think it is an extension of the Left's long pathological hatred towards one of its oldest bêtes noires, the oil industry.

As you correctly pointed out, it's too early to be even talking about suspending oil drilling. What Biden & Co. should be talking about are the bridge resources and technologies that will get us to the point where we can start talking about eliminating oil as a source of energy, but that's hard to do. Prattling mindless platitudes about destroying our main source of energy without discussing the consequences is easy. Even a mentally and emotionally unstable autistic girl can do that.

It is simply not practical and may not even be possible. Such a ban will certainly be challenged. And yes, going all the way back to the mighty J.D. Rockefeller, Sr. the left has had a passion to tear them apart. At times this was deservedly so, imo according to this biography, https://www.amazon.com/Titan-Life-John-Rockefeller-Sr/dp/1400077303. JDR went full Darth Vader in Cleveland back in the mid 1800s. He literally in some cases burned his competitors refineries to the ground, allegedly, but also seemingly beyond reasonable doubt from the context of the complete account of this book. His wars with the so called other Alphas of Industry were legendary - and he seldom if ever lost.

His monopolistic profits are laughable by today's standards, as are the industry's profits. Tech, Media and Communication companies cost us far more than water, sewage, electricity or fuel. Mobil phones are $1k. There is no US employee however of Apple, AT&T, Verizon, Comcast, Disney, ViacomCBS, etc that works in such a risky and nasty business as so many O&G folks making that next flight to Aspen possible, or fueling that Baja or Ski Nautique on the lake next weekend.

So Democrats are reducing gas taxes and regulations so gas can be cheaper, right?

How many states have raised gas taxes in the last two years and who runs them?

Democrats hate cheap energy, especially gasoline and diesel.

    Heh.

Democrats in our commonwealth (Virginia) wasted no time raising gas taxes:

Get a load of that Democratic bullshit. Not only are they raising gas taxes 10 cents a gallon, the tax will automatically keep rising every year with inflation.

I can't wait to put a gnarly boot up their asses next year....

They do, but what they really hate is not being able to control every aspect of our existences, from our health to our energy to our self-defense to our freedom of speech, ad infinitum...

If Biden is elected, we can only hope that his 'handlers' are a hell of a lot smarter (and more mentally-alert) than he is. But, then again, maybe they'll be the same bunch of creeps who followed Obama around, telling him what to say. We've been here, and done this, and the next time around is going to be an even bigger drag than the last ones....

Cheap energy = less state control over our lives.
    So... yeah.

wow, that's a bold strategy cotton.

I used to like biden, but between the mental lapses and the hard shift left, I've lost interest in giving him due consideration.

sorry joe, it's not you, its me.

I, too, have supported Trump, even when I really didn't like some of the stuff he was doing and SAYING at all. I looked the other way and I also ignored his "warts". But by championing the crushing of interest rates for people with savings accounts in banks, S&L's, and credit unions, Trump has thrown sh!t in my face, costing me THOUSANDS of dollars, and I'm not supporting anyone who does that to all of us who were careful and responsible enough in life to actually SAVE money intelligently instead of just hurling it out there in the big, overvalued stock market casinos!

Could I vote for Biden? Not on my worst day... the man is senile and somewhat seriously demented. But, for the first time in my life, I may simply not vote! Why VOTE for someone as bad as either Trump or Biden...? I've done that 'lesser-of-two-evils' thing too many times in my long life and I'm SICK of it.... :dead:

I've been trying to get one of those big giant roof top solar collectors to fit on my skateboard so I can get around if Joe gets in office, but I am having serious engineering challenges. Maybe I can get a 40 mile long extension cord and plug my board in to a wind mill and get to work.

Biden will not be able to enact all of that as President; I think as a moderate he will cut back a bit and invest in green energy a little more like Obama did.
