Biden struggles badly during "virtual roundtable" as gaffes continue to pile up

Most liberals are Capitalists. Our main enemy are authoritarians of any ideology. Most especially we dislike people who let their opinions be swayed by ill-informed propaganda, particularly those who cling to outmoded concepts that have not had any real credence of any sort for decades.

 

I don't think anyone has dementia. The first thing Dementia takes is any interest in the sort of mental processes that are the real warp and weft of politics. It should be left out of our discussion as it is a horrible disease and affliction for millions which Biden doesn't have it and neither does Trump, nor do voters for either one.

 

Most liberals are acting in a capitalistic economy as they try to turn the government into a socialistic one and along with that the economy and of course socialism is just the first step towards communism when the socialism fails.

 

Stop it, Bluesguy: both major parties are Big Government progressive parties that believe in a regulated market economy.

 

The American people, Democrat and Republican, support the peoples of the whole world in their struggles to be free. America First means First Among, not First Exclusively. We are not globalists but we share this globe.

 

Here's one outmoded concept.....Government "knows" what is best for it's citizens. It's knowledge supercedes any preconceived notions of "ordained rights" or individual liberty. That is an outmoded concept of liberal/ socialism. I extremely dislike people that would inplace an "all knowing elite" to govern our affairs in a way that exceeds those limited powers already granted. Government is only a necessary evil.

 

We support people of the world to be free but that does not replace their own efforts and desires to be free. They might ask "what is freedom"? We cannot and should not define it for them if they don't already know. All we can do is be an example. If they choose to model after the example, fine. If not, they are sovereign over their own decision.
It is struggle enough for us to guard against the excesses of government in our own Nation!

 

Debt is definitely a problem that Trump contributed to. I wish we had a much lower deficit when this crisis started. We would have had a lot more room to stimulate the economy. We can increase inflation and pay down some of that debt, and this will actually encourage people to spend their money. We can also hold interest rates down so the interest on the debt isn't very high. We can also take an ax to military spending. The democratic bill does include some strange spending, but that money is going into the economy and people's pockets which will boost spending. This is what we need to hopefully avoid a depression. Personally, I would have liked to see a more business-oriented bill and one that helps us live with the virus.

 

Communism failed finally in 1989. Socialism failed before that, sometime in the 70's. Neither really exist in the world anymore. Liberals want what is simple common sense. A Capitalistic system described first by Adam Smith and later modified by Keynes and Milton Friedman, among others; much like what is practiced in the US today, and notably in Denmark and Norway overseas.

Government is necessary and only as evil as we let it be. We, after all, ARE the government.

 

I agree distraff. Do you buy into the fact we had a very good economy, thanks to a lot of deregulation, and record low unemployment that gave us a much better position going into this Pandemic?.......or do you just hold to the idea that going into more debt with China and handing it out to anyone who feels they need it, as well as liberal pet spending programs.....it all helps our economy? If 3 trillion is good, wouldn't 5 or 6 trillion be better?

 

Bureaucracies that are weaponized by unscrupulous politicians are not "the People!" It is a rampant abuse that if necessary should be snitized by the blood of patriots!
