How uninformed can one be. The law is clear and guess what the dems can change it anytime they can get the votes, you had the house and senate not long ago yet didn't change it. A dem operative to subvert the law payed cash with the hopes to buy votes in a state that may be close.

Lol, ouch, no I wouldn't. Really?

You know I was just thinking that 16 million dollars is freaking peanuts. This should have been done years ago, that's cheap.

I actually had to go back to the link because I had originally thought it was 160 not 16

Turns out, irony... that this will likely be a felony violation of Florida state law, and the article from Bloomberg, as well as the NYTs will establish "intent" sufficient for a conviction. Winning.

According to Senator Mike Lee from FL who said that a few minutes ago on Beck's radio show, that is the case.

Can you still vote when you have an outstanding speeding ticket.
No, it's DeSantis voter suppression and I find it funny as hell. :)

Sure you can still vote with a speeding ticket or a conviction

DeSantis didn't come up with felons losing their voting rights...
I don't think Dems bribing people to vote for them is funny at all.....

Reversing a lower court judge’s decision that gave Florida felons the right to vote regardless of outstanding legal obligations, the order from the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the position of Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis and the GOP-led state Legislature, leaving voting rights activists aghast.

Under Amendment 4, which Florida voters passed overwhelmingly in 2018, felons who have completed their sentences would have voting rights restored. But the legal dispute arose after lawmakers the next year moved to define what it means to complete a sentence.

Yes and the Court said they had not completed their sentence...https://www.cbsnews.com/news/florida-felon-voting-rights-pay-fines-fees/

The People of Fl voted to make the Amendment..not the Gov...they need to complete their sentence....that's what Fl voters wanted.

That's what makes it so funny. The people voted to allow voting after their sentence was completed. DeSantis and the boys think they can override that.
Bloomie gives the people what they voted for.

If that's what the people wanted they would have said so.
Do you think Bloomie is done?

they did. that’s what they amend the constitution to say complete their sentence. peoples sentence isn’t done until fines and restitution is paid that’s part of a sentence.

blooms is in a little hot water that’s for sure

Bloomie is fine. He has just donated to a non profit. It's probably tax deductible. :roflol:

Wrong again... is it any wonder you are on my ignore?

The people voted for restoration... the Senate added the additional hurdle, which Bloomberg just defeated...

I wonder if the amendment would have passed had it been written to mention fines and restitution were NOT required to regain your voting right? I bet it would have....

    SNIP
An initiated constitutional amendment in 2018 restored the right to vote for those with prior felony convictions, except those convicted of murder or a felony sexual offense, who must still petition the governor for restoration of voting rights on a case by case basis. In July 2019, SB 7066 was signed by the governor of Florida which defined “completion of sentence” to include: release from imprisonment, termination of any ordered probation, fulfillment of any terms ordered by the courts, termination of any ordered supervision, full payment of any ordered restitution and the full payment of any ordered fines, fees or costs.

Republicans will ALWAYS find/create those loopholes to stay in office...

Bloomberg didn’t defeat it...it’s the law. Restitution and court cost are part of the sentence the SCOTUS ruled on this

    Sorry Charlie.

The Florida Rights Restoration Coalition is a nonpartisan group that has been fundraising to return all former felons in the state to the voting rolls. Desmond Meade, the group’s president, said the group does not share Bloomberg’s goal of empowering only one political side in the upcoming election.
“Different people may give for different reasons, but we are in this for one reason, and that reason is to place people over politics,” Meade said. “We are concerned with people from all walks of life, from all sorts of politics.”

Florida is like that. We voted overwhelmingly for medical marijuana, but it took almost two years after that. Florida legislature said, "Fine, you want that? Okay - if you are dying a horrible death in the next four months, you can have a card." When Desantis took office, he sent them a cease & desist email, and now anyone who actually needs one, can get one.

So, from where I sit, this is just what they do. They hate the people and their opinions.

i don’t care what they are...the court said it’s part of the sentence.

how in the world anyone can logically say if someone broke in my house stole and beat me was done with their sentence before they paid me for the damage they did to my house and my medical. bills is laughable
