No....not sure where you are getting this false information about a Justice being rushed through....there are 41 days til the election....that is plenty of time....more then it took for O'Conner, Stevens and about the same time it took for RBG

How is it suppressing votes? The felons put themselves in a position to be fined and they could have paid their fines any time they wanted. You're a smart guy, clearly you can see what Bloomberg is doing. Do you think he's do this if he thought felons voted for republicans?

They can't vote unless they pay a fine is not suppressing votes :) Using debt as a means for voter eligibility.

2nd time, it is a secret ballot!!!

Excellent call, vs putting random money into advertising. I applaud this 100%, trying to void Republican poll taxing...

I said it twice, I thought it was odd, but I'm in support of it, the court system is a mess and the fines/penalties associated are a nightmare for some folks so I see more good in this (a LOT more) than I see any negatives to be totally honest. I'm involved in the innocence project, have been for some time, and also have boned up a bit on the "system" and its chock full of crap so I'm just fine with the fines being wiped out, give thousands of people an opportunity for a fresh(er) start than they would have if they were released with the hindrances associated with financial penalties. If he did this for every state i'd be happy to see his money do some real good everywhere and help people with more than just the opportunity to cast a single ballot, they have a lot bigger problems.

Its a bit of a contradiction because generally speaking I have low opinion of convicted felons and feel that 80% probably won't give a dam about voting but will be thrilled with the financial windfall. I hope it helps a higher percentage keep their asses out of future trouble whether they vote or not.

With that said, its borderline from a morality perspective and can open up a can of worms for other opportunities where money can be an incentive to garner votes (for either side). I'm sure Bloomberg looked into this and got the green light from his legal counsel so... carry on.

bottom line: any time a very wealthy person voluntarily dumps loads of cash into the court system and make it flush is fine, if it benefits those less fortunate is ok with me as well, the good people will take this opportunity and get their lives in order, the bad people will end up back in jail anyway.

Republicans want less Americans voting as they know if more Americans vote, they lose

Considering all those investigated because RUSSIA, weren’t actually convicted of anything related to Russia, you have to wonder how easily it would be to nail 1/2 of the Bidens campaign staff if Republicans just started making **** up like slimy Dems have for 4 years.

Here's an alternative take: if indeed Bloomberg is trying to get democrats elected this should have the knock on effect of reduce incarceration by helping address the broader social issues that contribute to delinquency and then crime.

There is fair evidence that Bloomberg is a player in Plandemic, no surprise. He is as big a crook as Trump is.

Trump is going to lose in a landslide. If I vote it will be for the Libertarian candidate.

no one is buying votes, just giving them back the right to vote, they can vote however they want

it would be buying votes if they conditioned it on how they voted

The Felons lost their right to vote by being felons...the people of Fl were kind enough to say they can get their rights back when they serve their sentence....the Dems undercutted the will of the people of Fl, when they bribed these felons with shorter sentences for votes.

Buying votes.....doesn't get any lower then that

We are suppose to believe the party that nominted a guy for President that openly bragged about bribing Ukraine with foreign aid to stop looking into his son's corrupt company isn't putting strings on getting these felons a shorter sentence? Come on MAN

If THEY paid their debt to society. This could be a violation of federal and state laws.
"'[Under Florida law] it's a third-degree felony for someone to either directly or indirectly provide something of value to impact whether or not someone votes,' Gaetz explained. 'So the question is whether or not paying off someone's fines and legal obligations counts as something of value, and it clearly does.'"

Also do these felons know this money is taxable income for them?

Would you feel the same knowing Bloomberg is cherry picking only blacks and Hispanics that have registered to vote?

Since we solved poverty, homelessness, and cured cancer, there is plenty of money left over to pay criminals to vote. I thought Dems cared about the poor and opposed interference in our elections!

wow....a new low...dem voters openly supporting bribing people for their votes....that's sick...frankly this sort of thing reminds me of the stories you heard about when Dem would do with african-americans during the Jim Crow south....you don't get out from under your sentence, unless you vote how I tell you....it's sad

A long time ago I listen to the serial podcast with Sarah Koenig and for some time it sent me down a rabbit hole that really hasn't ended. I also have a realistic view on criminals and criminality so I'm not discounting bad people doing bad things.

I guess what it circles back to is that if an action like this helps 20% of these people have slightly better chances of getting their act together I'm all for it it's better for them, better for society, and better for the system, it clears space/time/effort nickle and diming those already fighting an uphill battle due to past mistakes. (The others, career criminals, are getting a free ride which is shameful, because I'd rather redirect it towards those more deserving, but who can make that judgement?

I think it would be lovely if he cleared every state. If he was really altruistic that would be a great goal, I might even pitch in.
