You forgot to say 'in my opinion'.

Just what 'outdated subjective opinions' are you talking about, whose opinions are you referring to, why are they outdated and why don't they have a place in modern society? After accussing the previous correspondent of generalising you should also explain why your own statement "...outdated subjective opinions that have no place in modern society" is not a generalisation too.

Once again you fail to understand a very simple proposition. Magoo meant that no one would entertain the idea of women playing WITH the men. And Magoo is right, very, very few women would be able to cope in a game of League or Rugby with men. ian fails again.

So I am right, you accuse others of generalising then in the next breath make a generalised statement yourself. You admit this with your failure to defend your own statement.

If that's indeed what he meant, he is wrong: I have no problem entertaining the idea of women playing WITH men.

Moreover, I've met others who share my view.

It is interesting you have ignored the rest of my message. It is one thing to entertain the idea but how many women could COPE with playing league or rugby in a mixed team with men. That is the crux of this whole discussion and it is the point that you are dancing around. The fact is very, very few women would be able to do it and for very simple reasons.
I am sure there is no law stopping them now but please Mr Meat tell us why there are no female members of any NRL team, why aren't there any female Wallabies?

    Very few I would think.

No: the crux is whether or not they are given the opportunity to apply.
    No: I'm dancing around nothing.

I've said nothing to the contrary.

    Either:

    a. women aren't allowed to apply
    b. if they are allowed to apply, the sexist neanderthals running the teams make sure that women never get accepted

Are women allowed to apply for membership as a player with the Wallabies?

OMG what a conundrum we have...argument and cross argument.
The whole thrust of my posting on this subject was that women should
not go to war on the basis that, simply put, its a mans job to fight wars
and women should not be sent to war..call me compassionate..call me old fashioned, I dont really care...but Steven Smith I repeat, is only trying to
stamp out sex scandals in the Military by promoting women into a position
of equality...even talking about binge drinking in the Military as though
he's going to stop that...good luck....

As far as playing NRL/AFL ...any woman would get smashed...it
will never ever happen...but lets not stop there....if I was to open
up a bricklaying business or a furniture removal business, I would not
employ women...if I am sexist in this regard...too bad...Id be in business
to make money and there would be no way I would employ women
    to do these jobs........

You would exclude every single woman on the planet, purely because of their gender?

You're sexist alright. That's one of the worst cases of sexism I've seen in a while. I honestly can't believe that people like you still exist.

I can understand you saying that you wouldn't employ very small women, or pregnant women, however, to exclude ALL women from those jobs just because of their gender is absolutely unbelievable.

    Sometimes the world sickens me.

Men should also be cherished and loved, not sent to war. What tackle is being carried in the trousers is pretty irrelevant.

Besides - it seems perfectly OK for women in the military to be raped by their male colleagues. They may as well be shot with them.

Not a problem, just an opinion.

I think many of them are sexist neanderthals.

Do you have a problem with that?

    Will do:

Jemma Blakemore completed her bricklaying apprenticeship five yearsago and is now working with bricklayer Matt Shaw of Matt Shaw Bricklaying. Jemma completed a pre entry course at Silver Trowel Training and did her apprenticeship at Swan TAFE Thornlie. Jemma has purchased several investment properties and owns her own house. Currently she is doing her Building Diploma at Swan TAFE. Jemma has also been a WorldSkills judge. “I don’t feel different being a female and I really enjoy my time in the trade. I would eventually like to be a niche builder.”

Tiffany Chrystie has recently completed her bricklaying pre-app course at Swan TAFE Thornlie. Tiffany is now a first year apprentice with the Home Buyers Centre, although she has acquired the skills of a second year level. Her mother Irene says the family tried to talk Tiffany out of bricklaying. “But she was determined that is what she was going to do. Tiffany loves it and would like to become a builder. Her dad is a real handyman and her brother is going into bricklaying next year,” said Irene.

Jeez, you've got a problem alright. What happened mate? Did one of them give you a fright? Did a footy player reject your advances? or perhaps you are just plane jealous....
    Pretty childish opinion.

Not childish at all. Your response however, well ... everyone else will judge that.

"The culture of sexism in sport will not be stamped out if the media and AFL get away with bullying women into silence to save face."

It's a wide spread belief that many footballers are sexist neanderthals, because ... it's true. If you're not aware of that you are sadly out of touch with the real world (not that I've ever doubted that).

Its more whenever you get young men, making lots of money (which attracts neanderthal females), doing a job they really enjoy where there isnt many females involved, which encourages a group dynamic to endure hardship. Those things make for over-confidence which presents in a few ways in guys, sexism being one of them. Problem is infantry also falls into this category a lot of the time so we should be also considering that female infantry will be stepping into that environment - then send them into war with no food, physical exhaustion, no sleep, friends getting blown apart, people trying to kill you, bombs and bullets relentlessly driving everyone a bit nuts... it tends to bring people closer together, and when those people are boy + girl = extra problems for family back home, health and welfare of troops etc bla bla.

    At last!

Which is exactly why it's so wrong to discriminate against a whole gender: there are exceptions.

    Glad you've seen the light.

Now if we could leave the concern about sexism behind and make decisions based on whether the result is an improvement or not to the operational effectiveness of the units being effected... well then we'll have real progess.
