Something discussed in cross examination by the prosecution in the Chauvin case resonates with me here. They discussed the difference between a risk and a threat and the justification of police action in the face of each. Sounds to me - with our limited info at this time - that the kid posed a risk and not a threat. And by the professional being questioned, police are not to use maximum force on a risk.

Any person who is drunk beyond believe can see that the kid follows the commands of stop running and raising his hands on that tape.
It is so because a person who runs is wildly different from a person who runs.

Yet that thug with a badge still claims the kid refused to comply, and kept on running and the hands up never happened.
The cop is dirty, and got blood on his hands of a child. His cop community respects it and is backed up by the likes of you.

The main problem is.... you're not going to convince anybody that this kid refused to comply since the tape is so obvious.
The thing is, that you lot keep on going on as if everybody is blind... and that is exposing the systemic problem in the US society,
in regards of the lives of the minorities for the sake of the job security of a dirty child killing cop.

And exactly why may I not reporters link? Sounds more you're just demanding to something that is exceptionally hard to find if not possible to find.... for the sake to dismiss the free and independent press.

Yeah, like I already said on page two, CHECK BOXES, didn't take long, and not a five paragraph essay on "other." All the check boxes do is tell us what could be true at different points in the encounter, and that is not necessarily lie, a lie that more easily found would come out with an essay. Almost all cops I know of at least have an associate degree, an essay is not too much to ask them to do.

A perp running with a gun in the most dangerous city where black people are murdering at abnormal levels, is NEVER just a risk. You should go take the basic risk assessment test for police and you’ll be fake dead in every altercation. Take a look at this know it all activist who gets a reality check. He hypothetically dies a couple times and fake murders another guy. At least he understands after it’s over.

At the time he was 'stopped' and had his hands in the air (no longer holding the gun), he was a risk - not a threat.

Because the reporters think check boxes are cool and math is racist, simply put I don't want to read someone else's opinion, I'm talking to you. I found that one it before you did, there are like two reports with check boxes, see page two. Check boxes are for kids, something else to add to the failure of the higher ups to fix, make the fracking cop write an essay, "why I shot the kid...".

You need different news sources, sources that aren't trying to inflame and divide the country.

I'm having a hard time sympathizing with a guy that was running from the cops with a gun in his hands about one second before he was shot. Don't run from cops. Especially don't carry a gun in your hand while doing so.

They were firing guns at passing vehicles from what I heard. They ran from the police with gun in hand. He turned sideways towards the police with the gun in hand and hidden behind his body. He then turned towards the police while raising the hand towards them in which the police knew he was carrying the gun. The police do not have to wait until shot at. Another tragic incident brought about by the criminal himself. The police had no idea if he was a teenager or an adult so he age doesn't matter here except to make pleas to emotions.

A horrible situation which begs the question why was this 13 year old out in a dark alley at 2 in morning. Why did he have a firearm. Why did he believe it OK to shoot it at passing vehicles or at all? Why did he run from the police when they arrived. Why didn't he just drop the weapon when he ran. Why didn't he just stop and raise his hands instead of turning towards the police while raising the hand that had just been hidden behind his body?

We will hear calls that this is all about the police not having enough training. I think it only proves the point that citizens in these communities are the ones who need more training. I'm reading the "WE failed Adam" and from the governor "Adam Toledo, a 13-year-old child, was shot to death. This is a moment that calls for justice for our children and accountability in all our public institutions."

What justice for Adam Toledo, if he wanted justice then don't run from the police, submit to the justice you deserve for firing a weapon. How about better parenting and teaching in our schools about proper behavior and if the police DO approach you and DO attempt to arrest you DON'T RESIST.

The kid moved too fast when raising his hands, the officer has an instant to respond to something like that. I play golf, sometimes I know I made an error in my backswing, but you know what, it is way too late by then to stop what is going to happen. The problem here is you can't un see the kid with his hands raised and no weapon, but that is not what the officer is reacting to. The officer is reacting to the sudden movement of an armed suspect. I grew up with a police officer for a father and grand father. The things they told me about the police, always keep your hands visible and don't make any sudden movements.

I just find it amusing that the left pretend that George Zimmerman was white instead of Latino when he shot a black man. Now we have the left pretending that a Latino is a black man when he got shot by a white woman. I guess Latinos are transracial... they will can be black or white or Asian depending on how the left wants to use them as a political weapon.

It is a lie, that the kid did not comply to "did not follow verbal direction", that he was "imminent threat of battery with weapon" and that he "used force likely to cause death or great bodily harm." The kid followed what the cop said to the letter, there was no imminent threat to anybody as far as the cop knew and nobody saw him use any kind of force. That is where the cop goes dirty covering the truth making dirty accusation of why he had to shoot.

If all math books would be all like "Mohammed has 5 blue marbles and 10 red. He gives one to Xui Ying. What chance does Xui Ying have the marble is red?"... than you would notice a certain ethnicity is category not represented on purpose. And checking the wrong boxes only shows you either are not taking the job serious when you just killed a person or you're just busy covering your tracks.

They shot him as the gun hit the ground. You don’t suddenly shift from threat to risk that quickly. If the gun came up just as quickly and they didn’t shoot, one of the cops could easily be dead. I’ll gladly take the cops life over this thug, which he is. Good kids aren’t running around with a gun at 2am. This “child” could easily be responsible for some of the common murders going on there every day as he tried to prove himself to his gang leaders.

The death rate of black people being killed is almost 3 times higher when you look at it percentage wise. You lot are always keen to point at how black people punch above their weight when it suits you, but suddenly forget it when it's about these figures.

Young child? That kid looks like an adult, one who was shooting at cars and ran from the cops. He didn’t “comply” until the last second.
The real problem is people who have no idea whatsoever how a job works being ultra critical of split second decisions.
It’s some kind of criminal fetish.

You do shift that fast from being a thread to not being a thread. There was no gun coming out at all. The thug with a badge is just dirty. He lied on his report on numerous occasions how it went down. All you got is degrading the life of that kid as if it did not matter that he got killed with even putting in quotation marks that the 13 year old is not really a child at all. It's a systemic thing that goes on whenever a minority is being killed when unarmed or in some horrible way... to go excuse yourself and the cop.

A random pedophile would say that too if that is what it takes to get off the hook.

The real problem is, that these cops are trained extensively and you are not. The kid reacted to the verbal commands in that split second with stopping with the running. The kid also reacted to the verbal command to raise his arms. A trained adult simply can not care to keep his cool and just shoots an unarmed brown kid, to than flat out lie of how it went down. All you got going is smearing the life of a killed unarmed kid, and want a cop to kill around without any kind of responsibility.. with a hint of racism in the air.

it’s always about racism with white guilt fanatics. How tall is that fence? Of yeah, ignore that part since he looks like an adult who’d been shooting a gun at cars.
What, what if he shot a black guy in one of those cars? Would your head explode?
I was trained very extensively and had the k9. It’s you who have no idea what you’re talking about again.

I realize we are coming at this from different places - but I assure you I am not a 'cop hater'. From what I'd read and seen, the kid had thrown down the gun and his hands were up. Once his hands are up, no need to take the shot. Proceed cautiously, of course - because he could reach for it again.

Understood. But It’s not like they saw the gun go down, counted silently to themselves 1 Mississippi 2 Mississippi, ect. If he’s just standing there doing nothing for a minute obeying orders and they just unload on him that’s a different story. It was an ARMED black male in Chicago running, stopping, and they see a flash of metal and they shoot. It’s an intense situation. Cops don’t have to wait for a gun to be fired at them. If they do they’re dead.

The video I posted above shows it perfectly. The activist “died” over and over again except the time he shot the unarmed guy that got too close. He killed an unarmed man. What a murderer right?

An armed suspect can not be trusted. They’re already ready to kill someone. Why else do you run around at 2:30 in the morning with a gun? It’s not like the kid was training for a marathon, armed because he was protecting himself from all the gang members:). Don’t think you can carry in Chicago anyway. Certainly not a kid.

This is a 13 year old thug who just shot at passing cars. He ran from the police and it was dark. Did the officer know he threw his gun away? No. Sorry, the 13 year old should have been home in bed instead of hanging around a 21 year old thug. This is not a child. He's a thug if he has a gun out at night in Chicago shooting at cars with real people and children in them. This will be a justifiable shooting as it should be. Has nothing to do with race. This wasn't a traffic stop with an unarmed person.
