Boy Scouts haven't previously made exceptions for girls based purely on the desire of the girl to join, why should they start now?

There have always been masculine women and feminine men. Biology doesn't care.

 

There are 7B people in the world. Even if 0.1% are transgender, that's still a lot of people dealing with it. If my decimal point is correct, 7,000,000 people and families. It's bound to surface.

You're not bothered by creepy adults imposing their sex-related fixations upon small children? You do realise it's only going to get worse. More and more (bad) parents, now that they have 'permission', are going to float those boats out. A grand experiment, for which the children will pay.

 

No more worried than the gay movement.
Same things were brought up with the gays.
They will recruit all of our children to be gay. They will turn the world gay.

Actually nothing like that. Gay kids aren't being fed hormones and given surgery.

 

Conversion therapy was a biggie once upon a time.

 

I think you know that's completely different. Trying to equate convincing a 4 year old boy he really is a girl (and following up with permanent medical procedures and life altering hormones) is profoundly more problematic than an adult male being convinced to try some whacky pray the gay away 'self help'.

 

Yes it is different.
In one case people force the conversion therapy on the person against their will.
In the other, the person wanting life altering hormones are doing it because they want it. Thanks for pointing that out.

 

I personally think it's odd that they haven't already done this.

 

But there are cases of patents trying to make their child transgender. That's just as bad as conversion therapy.

 

Many BSA units are chartered with religous institutions. They often have objections to that sort of thing

 

It's FAR worse. "Conversion" therapy involves adults, who are merely convinced to try it. They are not forced via authority, as a small child is. And they are not submitted to life altering medical procedures.

 

Again, we don't alter the universe (and other people's bodies) based on what 4 year olds want. If we do, we are dangerously insane.

 

No 4 yr old is going to go to any gender transition/reassignment therapy either. So you point is moot.

 

No I'd say they were about equal. Parents did and still do force their children into it.
