Round up guns, or do without federal funds. Enforce federal environmental legislation, or sing for your supper.... Rather than set a terrible precedent, the Feds should do their own enforcement.
States have in many cases gone along with the Feds for political reasons when they could have fought them successfully in court.
next Trump will go after Marijuana states dems can go after states blocking same gender marriage and other lgbt rights, the list goes on have to be careful what one wishes for
States have never had the right to secede. Once a territory becomes a state, they're subject to Article VI, Clause 2: This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding. There's no provision in the Constitution for seceding.
There's a huge difference between refusal to do the Fed's job and actively preventing the Feds from doing their job. Sanctuary cities are the latter; I have no issues with cities that do the former.
Agreed. From what I understand, most of the cities are careful not to interfere with anyone enforcing federal law. If they interfere with the enforcement of federal laws, they should be prosecuted. Otherwise, we should enforce federal laws with federal employees.
Yes, but we have judges and law enforcement actively releasing prisoners early so they can avoid the Fed. This is why they get called sanctuary cities. In my opinion, passively ignoring illegal immigrants is a world apart from actively assisting illegal immigrants from avoiding the Fed.
No, it doesn't stop the feds. They can ban particular weapons and by the reasoning of the types who want to go after sanctuary cities, they should be able to coerce a state to round up firearms.
Been legal all the decades it has been in use, it was challenged during the 55 mph speed limit days and courts maintained it. Same with the 21 year old drinking age.
