Why do Trump supporters see everything in the most extreme ways possible? I never said Democrats wanted to "force" states to work with the federal government, but from what I've seen many of the states have been begging Washington to set up a central command unit to guide them & coordinate efforts. Trump failed to respond, & still is. If Biden wins, he will set up that central command unit & coordinate efforts to defeat the virus once & for all. Many have died unnecessarily because of Trump's failure to act on this. I find that deeply disturbing.

I stand by my post. What do you think Obama could have done, or should have done, about Chicago. Just because it's where he lived before becoming President, doesn't give him any authority there. I'm confused by your hostility toward him.

I am a Democrat & I'm perfectly comfortable with your suggestion of sending in the FBI. I'm not familiar with the situation in Chicago. I live a very long way away.

Talk talk talk blah blah blah. So what didn’t Trump do that Democrats wouod have that could have saved 200k lives? They couldn’t have created more tests any faster. They couldn’t have sped up a vaccine that’s for sure. Provided more resources for hospitals? Nope. Trump did all that too. All they could have done was talk more. did they tell the millions of people rioting and protesting all across the country to STOP, because large crowds tightly packed together many without masks spreads the virus you know. Blah blah talk talk. BS BS.

The ONLY thing that could have saved lives was locking people in their homes. THAts IT!! And doing that would have been FASCIST and very dictator like. You thinks erring up a ducking committee would have done anything besides talk talk talk?

That’s what’s pathetic. People keep thinking anything could have been done. The ONLY thing Trump did that was stupid was open his trap too much and not stress wearing a mask from the get go. But even if he did, it still would not have done diddly **** because those not wearing masks wouldn’t have worn them anyway whether it was Trump talking or Biden. THATS THE POINT!!!

Sadly there isn’t anything more humane that doesn’t waste billions of tax dollars. Because we have to live next to a **** hole we are forced to manage everything floating upstream. Every dime we spend in Mexico should be spent here first preventing them from entering. That’s why the wall was a good start. Once people can’t get in, we can start clearing people out. Until Mexico and most of South America ceases being a near 3rd world country, we have to deal with the dregs sneaking up here.

It is certain that no one can accuse you of having too positive a view on life. :( I wish you luck in changing that. :)

I agree that Mexico & some other Central & South American countries aren't the best of neighbors. But, as Trump might say, they are what they are, & we do have to deal with them. I agree we should limit our financial investments there. But we do need a better immigration policy than now exists. It's a massive challenge. I don't begin to know all the details necerssary to make it a success. I just know its complicated & desperately needed. I don't agree with Trump on incarcerating every illegal. The expense alone is prohibitive. There must be other, simpler, cheaper ways of dealing with that flow. Obama had reduced the illegal flow to almost zero in his last two years in office. Under Trump, it increased again. Perhaps we can learn something from past successes.

If that helps diminish the violence & killing in Chicago, then I say go for it.

This did turn into a rather venomous thread, though far from all of it was directed at Trump. What I want to add to my previous reply is, if the turnout for this election pans out as many in the media are making it out, it will be very strong evidence not that, "hate," necessarily, but that strong aversion to something is a more effective motivator (to vote, though I think the implications go well beyond this) than is aspiration.

I haven't studied the situation in Chicago, but I would presume it is an equation of poverty, encouraging the formation of gangs, leading to a particular culture of violence among a certain segment of the population. But I don't know if the, "Elliot Ness," model of combatting this applies, as it did back in the old days of Organized Crime gangs. Even then, the government was only finally able to bust Al Capone on income tax evasion.

What I mean is, even if you bust up the gangs, if you leave the same conditions, the situation seems likely to recapitulate itself w/ new people taking the place of the former leaders. But maybe I'm wrong. Perhaps it is only a limited number of bad apples that have led to the atrocious number of homicides year in & year out. I guess it's worth a try. But I would hope, if things did play out as I just theorized, that the advocates of law-enforcement solutions would show a similar open-mindedness to trying an alternative strategy, being willing to target the problem's formative causes.

Curiously, though the 2 foci of your conversation, at first, seem disparate issues, when seen from this perspective, the driving cause of illegal immigration from the nations of South & Central America to the U.S. is very much akin to the basis of Chicagoan violence. Even more clearly, with this 2nd case, in either approach towards a solution-- trying to stem the tide of desperate masses trying to escape conditions of violence & poverty; or helping guide their originating countries to improve their economic soils-- we can only do so much. So why do so many limit their options to only being able to see one path to success, & if it doesn't work (cf. the War on Drugs) considering the only response to be the redoubling of their ineffectual efforts?

To close with a quote, from Henry David Thoreau--

There are a thousand hacking at the branches of evil
to one who is striking at the root.

Government-sanctioned racial preferences in hiring have no place in a free society which should be allowed to hire or associate with whomever they damn well please. The qualified candidates regardless of race will inevitably show up anyway without that "help."

At the worst, not for long, until the Republican-held Senate can take a harder look at Democrat election fraud.

Don't be. Until The Lord of the TelePrompter, the worst president we ever had was Jimmy Carter. It takes work to be that worthless, but Hussein the Magnificent accomplished it with panache. Dismantling Obamacare will be Donald Trump's triumph, given a second term.

How were they able to call down ballot elections and not the Presidential? With the mail in ballots they are all on the same mail in cards.

I would like very much to agree with you, but the evidence doesn't seem to support that reality. I thought America was past racism when we elected Obama for a second term. I was wrong. I thought McConnell's obstructionism was based on philosiphic political differences. I was wrong. I thought blacks were getting equal consideration in hiring for jobs & the same pay as anyone else who might be hired. But official job stats don't support that conclusion. In fact, they reveal how widespread racism & racist practices remain today. I would love for your post to actually reflect a truth. I wish it did. :(

It appears that won't happen. But I'm curious how any American can feel OK with killing access to medical care for nearly 20 million Americans, including children. I know I don't. Please help me understand what you regard as more important than their lives &/or health?

IMO, very few Americans are racists, there has been systemic racism before and after the Civil War and throughout the era of progressive reform. Joe Biden was a key figure in the preservation of systemic racism in America.
That is why so may black American voters chose Trump over Biden, and why many of their votes were nullified by vote fraud.
    Peaceful protests should start now.

I am all for peaceful protests. I am also for truth, & from what I've seen during this election, the only evidence of voter fraud is from Republicans. First, they did everything humanly possible to discourage voters of color from voting. They forced long term voting lines lasting up to 8-11 hours, just to vote. They decreased the number of official ballot drop boxes in some black areas from hundreds to as little as one single box. They went to court to try & stop ballots mailed within the official voting dates, but delivered by the USPS after Nov 3, to be set aside & not counted. The only party trying to get any votes nullified has been the Republicans.

Your post is full of misinformation. :(

    1. You offer no evidence of Republican voter fraud.
    2. You fail to point out any specific "misinformation" from my post.

    Why? ;-)
