We are still waiting to find out the results of the testing on one individual here in Colorado for the Corona virus. I suppose that the CDC "fast-tracks" these tests, but two days after the news broke here in Colorado, we still don't know anything for sure....

There is up to a 14-day quarantine period. I don't know how they decide whether to hold people 3-4 days or 14 (????)

Just did a quick search on a Texas A&M student who was reported to be under testing for the virus. No updates here either since the headlines on January 23rd.

Trump asked, "If a nuclear bomb could work on a tornado, would it work on the Corona virus?" I say sure, but one side effect is death.

The hysteria over this puny little virus is fascinating. Mask that don’t work, cities turned into concentration camps, and airlines refusing to fly. Fascinating.

    You
Might have an argument if it all wasn’t so pointless. It’s out. Quit wasting time and on feel-good BS and create a vaccine. It’s the only solution...and get rid of open air meat markets. Duh.

And yet, an intelligent leader of a major nation, Vladimir Putin, has just closed the entire 2,650 mile-long border between Russia and China! You can hate Putin (a common recreation here in the U. S.), but don't ever doubt his decisions based on faulty or hysterical information... he's briefed by the very best intel agency on Earth -- the FSB, headed by Alexander Bortnikov.

The WHO is meeting today to decide whether to declare a global health emergency...or not.

A cruise ship with 7000 passengers off Italy got locked down because one passenger is "showing symptoms" of illness.

Sounds like a really bad time to be traveling abroad.

I feel badly for people who have to travel for work. Choosing to travel globally right now for pleasure is just not smart.

    Its frigging hysteria.

Flu toll mounts in California, with 42 deaths so far. And that's a little two-bit state compared to China.
    https://www.latimes.com/local/california/la-me-ln-flu-deaths-20190105-story.html

The death rate is lower than that of the flu and yet we are closing borders, stopping flights, quarantining cities, and wearing masks that are useless? And Japan has a drug that stops viruses from replicating? WTF? When did hysteria become the norm?

Listen, I'm not saying its not a nasty disease, or we wouldn't be better off without it, but the world's reaction to this is nothing more than the hysterical fear of the unknown. Create the vaccine, put it on the market, and make a bundle--everybody healthy and wealthy.

Our Health and Human Services Dept says a vaccine will take a minimum 6 months to be market-ready.

Back when SARS was the epidemic du jour, the virus had burned out before the vaccine was ready, so it was never used.

I don't think china would quarantine an entire region lightly. The hit to the economy cannot be insignificant. Perhaps they see something you do not.

Nah, I just think they are too authoritarian and autocratic to behave rationally, and there is nothing rational about their response. It's not the bubonic plague, it's a flu-like virus. with a low mortality rate.

Call Roche. Get some Xofluza, modify it to attack this virus. Take 72 hrs tops. Mass produce it in a week. We send telescopes to explore galaxies we can't see, but we can't beat a puny virus that makes us puke, crap, and cough? BS!

"Drug That Kills Flu in One Day Approved In Japan. The drug, known as Baloxavir marboxil, can kill flu viruses in 24 hours, although some symptoms could last longer, the company said, according to The Wall Street Journal. It prevents flu spread differently than existing drugs."

Or, how about destroying the protein protecting the virus? That would work.

How to destroy any protein in any cell:
"Scientists from Germany and the UK now present a new method, called Trim-Away, which makes it possible to directly and quickly deplete a protein from any cell type. As Trim-Away can distinguish between different variants of a protein, it also opens up new venues for the therapy of diseases."https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2017/11/171116132705.htm

Let's get with it, scientists--there's money to be made and time is wasting away.

Ha! Hey, it's only an AIRBORNE and AEROSOL, human-to-human virus now... so what's everybody getting so upset about... right?

So, like, can't we just fill up some spray bottles with diluted bleach, spray everything around us, and be OK? We could have this whole 'virus' thing framed in the past-tense in about another two or three days if we'd just quit being so shook up... right?

Wow, that stupid WHO is getting everybody all upset by declaring a 'global health emergency'...right? Link: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-51318246

Oh, and Russia is just, like, so dumb to close its whole damned 2,600+ mile-long land border with China... right? Stupid Russians...!

[IMG]. Why are they worried? :psychoitc:

Hysteria. What are those mask going to do? Stop an airborne? Isn’t there a path way through the eyes? I think there is. Any paper cuts? Hang mails? Sweaty. Pores?

The point is not that the disease isn’t infectious or contagious, the point is that wearing mask, turning cities into concentration camps, banning flights, and closing borders is not going to stop it. It’s already around the world. Find a way to stop the virus from replicating during infection and problem solved.

Besides, it’s basically a flu type illness, not a manmade Frankenstein monster bug, or a bubonic plague, just a nasty flu bug—annoying and discomforting, but not the end of the world.

We’ve annihilated smallpox, this is nowhere near as deadly.
