Now we see he has reversed an attack by Laura Ingram, a well known media personality and reduced her to delivering a groveling apology. One thing to remember about high school is what you call the "more masculine boys" are often the ones that end up in menial jobs and the kids like Hogg often end up as Senators, high powered lawyers, creators of money making companies, and the like. Don't fall into the trap of underestimating your adversary.

I know several people who have experienced a home invasion and in all cases except one they used a firearm for defense. You don't know any of these people or what they went through, but I guess you feel free to attack their right to own a firearm. One of the people suffering a home invasion was my oldest son who was suddenly attacked two years ago after having his door kicked in. I have experienced one situation in my life where I believe the fact that I was armed prevented an attack by four people who had followed me at around 2:30 AM to the end of a dead end road, clearly with bad intentions. It is people like you and this Hogg kid who want to create a situation like in England (a country you probably consider decent and civilized) where the only legal self defense weapon is a rape whistle. You and your ilk need to consider that many of us will never surrender our firearms. To be defenseless is to be a slave.

In the four incidents I mention the facts are:

Home invasion #1 - three attackers, early 20s, no previous criminal convictions, armed with 2 handguns and one sawed off shotgun.
Home invasion #2 - three attackers, late 20s, multiple felony previous convictions, armed with edged weapons including an ax.
Home invasion #3 - one attacker who fled after sustaining damage, age and weapons (if any) are unknown as the attacker was not apprehended.
Home invasion #4 - one attacker who was in his early 20s with a prior domestic battery conviction. This attacker was unarmed an initiated a violent attack with his bare hands. He was not armed with a weapon.

So it should be noted in only one of the four cases were the bad guys proven to be armed with guns where in three of four cases the good guys were armed with guns.

With respect to crazy gun cultures, you have strong gun laws in places like Mexico but yet somehow the criminal element is well armed. I believe that around 32 percent of murders in Europe are from firearms -- and the edged weapon murders are increasing along with things like acid attacks.

I am not attacking anyone's right to own a 'firearm' I am not suggesting that all guns be restricted, just the ones that are used in the mass shootings that kill dozens of people in a few short minutes. It is not unreasonable, what I want.

I too have been threatened with a gun, someone wanting to kill me, when I taught community college. (He was failing the course I taught for the 3rd time. No one else failed the course. It was not a difficult course.) He had brought the gun to the school where I was teaching; he showed someone the gun and told him he was going to kill me. Fortunately, that person told authorities, and they stopped him before he could do anything.

I know what it is like. That was over 20 years ago, but I never believed owning a gun was what I needed. I've lived and worked independently in 6 countries and travelled independently to over 30 countries including North America, Europe, North Africa, Asia and the ME. I have never felt the need to be armed. I am not frightened of life.

England is a far safer country than the US. Europe is far safer. You people are controlled by fear mongering propaganda. It's pathetic. I have taught in Europe too. It is far safer than the States ... few if any school shootings.

Pro-gun people have been manipulated by propaganda that tells them their gun rights are going to be taken away. That is patently not true. But reasonable, intelligent, responsible, and effective restrictions need to be put in place.
