"Dreams and hopes" for our kids are realised by sheer hard work and self-sacrifice, not dreaming and hoping. No one looks down on the impoverished when it's a temporary fix for situations which are not self-inflicted. Young people lacking family support, as they work their way through school, etc. And no, there isn't any institutional racism in 2017. If there was, Asian Americans wouldn't be out-earning and out-educating white Americans.

I don't understand why you jump to conclusions instead of just asking. I grew up poor (Financially) and do not look down anyone based on their income. I do look down on those who have babies to secure a man and/or a source of income and then neglect and abuse these children. This may come as a shock to you, but it happens. One of my daughters friends was being abused by one of these parents and luckily, she spoke up and was removed immediately. We adopted her and I am proud to call her my daughter. She graduated with a degree in psychology and is now helping others. Hopes and dreams do come true. Your problem is that you paint groups of people with a broad stroke. Some parents put in the effort to raise happy, self confident children, while others let the school, the TV, and the police raise their children while they collect money. Between these two extremes are all levels of parenting. Money does not make one a good parent any more than the lack of money makes one a bad parent. When our time on Earth expires, it will not matter how much money we had. True wealth is measured in the moments we spend with those we love. (IMO)
Maybe a dog, cat, or hamster would be a more reasonable choice until they can afford the costs of raising a child. Shouldn't the childs happiness and joy be taken into consideration as well?
