We HAD to take a moral stance against Sharia Law, since it's so barbaric and inhuman.

In Syria withdrawal, Trump discards advice from allies and officials

Washington (CNN)Seated at the head of his Situation Room conference table, President Donald Trump was adamant: American troops must come home from Syria. He had just announced as much to a crowd in Ohio. The assembled military and national security advisers told him the move was rash and unwise. So he gave them six months.

Eight months later, planning for the withdrawal is now underway -- against the advice of those same officials, who warned in April that Russia and Iran would gain stronger footholds in Syria when the US presence there evaporates.

On Capitol Hill, even some of Trump's GOP allies were warning of a grave mistake.

    ... https://www.cnn.com/2018/12/19/politics/trump-syria-advisers-congress/index.html
    -------------------------------

In short, the advice he is ignoring is that ISIS is not yet defeated and will be able to regain a foothold, and that he is handing a win to our Russian, Iranian and Syrian adversaries.

WE baby-sit Muslims in Afghanistan, Somalia, Yemen, Iraq, etc., and Putin gets to babysit Muslims in Syria, Bibi babysits Muslims in Palestine. Seems this "Allah" bloke isn't doing a very good job of giving his favorite people much direction in how to behave properly, now does he?

The leftist's hypocrisy cracks me up: "no, don't bring our troops home!!!" is NOW what they are saying!!
I guarandamntee you that if OBAMA brought these troops home that they'd be CROWING, CROWING about how great this move was! Trump could cure AIDS and they'd find something, anything, to complain about.

Well I hope you're right about ISIS regaining a foothold. That way our Russian, Iranian and Syrian adversaries will have to fight ISIS as well as themselves.

The advice he is ignoring is the same advice that bogged us down in the ME for twenty years with nothing to show for it. Maybe it ought to be ignored.

That's not the humanitarian answer. Having ISIS regain strength and territory would only get more people killed and leave Syria more of a mess. And Russia would still have their warm water port and strategic ally, with ample excuse to keep expanding their power there.

No it is not the humanitarian answer. But it will get fewer Americans killed in Syria. Let the Russians try to expand their power over there. I doubt they will be anymore successful than the US. It will also have the advantage of refocusing the terrorists on Russia and not the US.

That's because religious people never find the moral courage to improve the texts of their disgusting religions. Heck, even the "kill gays" parts of their pathetic religions they lack the moral courage to improve. Intellectual cowards.

I'd LOVE to say, one day, "wow, I can't blame THIS problem on religion, because they found the moral courage to improve their (old) barbaric texts - well done theists, well done!"

What moral stance? It was the Syrians who died in the hundreds of thousands to retain the tolerant and inclusive society they had under Assad. Washington would bomb the Syrian army whenever they were defeating the terrorists under the pretense of a false flag chemical attack, in order to level the playing field and keep the war going on.

Defeating violent, murderous radical religious terrorists and helping make the country stable enough for refugees to return home is, I would argue, the humanitarian answer. It benefits no one for the Russians to take over yet, as you say, be unsuccessful in defeating ISIS. You imply that we are not making progress in Syria. I highly doubt that is the case.

Hehe, that's the first time I've ever heard "tolerant and inclusive" used to describe a Muslim country!

Not sure how you could call Mao a Secular Humanist.

Secular humanism posits that human beings are capable of being ethical and moral without religion or a god. It does not, however, assume that humans are either inherently evil or innately good, nor does it present humans as being superior to nature. Rather, the humanist life stance emphasizes the unique responsibility facing humanity and the ethical consequences of human decisions. Fundamental to the concept of secular humanism is the strongly held viewpoint that ideology—be it religious or political—must be thoroughly examined by each individual and not simply accepted or rejected on faith.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secular_humanism

20th century Communism was far removed from this. The only thing it had in common was a rejection of religion. The problem is that it functioned much like organized religion itself and had powerful men at the head of it in those countries that embraced it. North Korea still maintains such a model, and Kim is practically a god-king there.

Trump is the only person who says that. There are 30 000 ISIS terrorists left in Syria, and as soon as they announce they kicked US out of the country, new recruits will start pouring in.

Very creative, I applaud you! My posts are damn boring compared to yours.

Hehe, again, Modern Secular Humanism believes in democracy - so it's far far better than Mao ever was. Sam Harris and other Modern Secular Humanists are far far better than Mao, obviously. I condemn Mao! Add a FIFTH category to your list.

Also, I am no "hate-monger" as I'm more loving than Jesus, of course, because unlike God/Jesus, I'd let ethical Buddhists into "heaven" and avoid "hell" (if I had God/Jesus' magic X-men super-powers)....Jesus is too full of hatred to compete with me in that department. Are Christians??

They are all violent, murderous radical religious terrorists over there. Can you name a political group you support in Syria? Who is supposed to supply the stability?

Myself, I do doubt we are "making progress" in Syria. I certainly can't point to anything concrete.

Good. Let them fight the Russians and Iranians who are apparently considered our adversaries.
