I do agree that most do not need to go as extreme as say keto unless they have diabetes, but most would benefit from lowering the carbs, most Americans eat way to many carbs and snack between meals way to much (this includes high carb drinks like fruit juice that they sip on all day at work thinking it's healthy)

    Right
But probably a diet only composed of grass fed rib eye is also likely suboptimal.

btw, as you are almost certainly aware.... most people (including me) who eat rib eyes do not pay the extra cost for grass fed. It all gets very complicated. But enjoy your steak, as will I

A lot of people overlook the B12. My hardest struggle, and it is true for a lot of people on all diets, is potassium intake.

I would agree, if one was gonna go carnivore, they best eat a variety of meat, fish, eggs, organ meat, ect....

I choose to eat lots of low carb vegetables, very few fruits or starches and try to keep my meat varied, and I do eat liver about once a week (not may fav, but I do eat it)

Too much Vitamin A can be dangerous, that's not my point, keeping a variety is necessary to maintain a healthy diet, IMHO, that's what works for me. I don't always adhere to the diet. Presonally I don't care what people choose to eat, some people do eat too much red meat, my cousin does, he isn't even 30 yrs old and he has colon problems.

yeah, potassium is hard to get the daily requirements on any diet it seems, I take a supplement for that, a powder, not the pills that are so low as limited by law, I take the K1000 Electrolyte Powder, but many out there

yep, agree, too much Vitamin A is dangerous and too little is dangerous, but that is kinda my point, people that want to prove Vitamin A was bad would only show the results for too much

I doubt it's the red meat that is your cousins issue, too many variables in there, many carnivores without colon issues, did he eat grains and sugar too? drink alcohol, the list goes on and on....

people will believe what they "want" to believe - for years people believed saturated fat was bad, so it became evil in many peoples eyes, and they blamed clogged arteries on it, which was false, turns out that is caused by the high sugar and high insulin in the blood

people had their children eat sugar smacks as they thought it was healthier than eggs, ect....

like you, I do not care what people eat, what I care about is others trying to pass laws to prevent me and others from eating what I want to eat and feel is the healthier option

Do you think a “carnivore” (paleo) diet would be generally healthy? It seems to me that we humans fit into the category of omnivore.... meaning a varied diet. After all, we do not have the teeth typical of carnivores.

You only need supplements if you are actually deficient in a particular chemical element. Sometime a deficiency is a particular chemical element or compound is a symptom of some function, condition, or desease so get Mr or Miss Doctor to diagnose the cause and not have you eat bandaids coverying up the real cause of a problem.

From my understanding, human flesh is considered to be red meat.

I now see where Ocasio-Cortez and the other "Green New Deal" climate change wackos are coming from.

Interesting post. I’ve been mostly vegetarian most of my life. But not vegan. I think that would be hard for me. I eat eggs, milk, cream, cheese, and yogurt like there’s no tomorrow. :)

I’ve known some vegans but not any that do a lot of physical labor. I’ve known a lot of vegetarians that were pretty unhealthy, but it wasn’t because they were vegetarian. I agree one can do well on about any sensible diet. With as much variation in genetics and activity level as there is I don’t know why anyone would think there is a one size fits all regimen.

    Anyway, thanks for sharing.

I agree that excessive carbs (especially big gulp like sodas) can be very bad for our health

in my case, I was diagnosed with diabetes 2 and was obese
I was prescribed to typical suite of drugs.... but wound up having severe side effect

so went on a diet only approach.... mostly eliminating sugar drinks, reducing carbs and serving size
Now I no longer have diabetes, am no longer obese, and have near perfect blood pressure
Not the solution for every one, but it worked for me

it's not the diet for me, but I do see many doing well on the diet, I prefer a varied keto diet with lots of low carb vegetables

I'm not the one who sounds upset. Vegans always look a weird shade of grey. Man does not have canine teeth at sit at the top of the food chain, to exist on roughage. Eat what you choose.

I pretty much have been living on a red meat diet for almost 50 years.

Indigenous Native Americans aka injuns, red skin savages who lived on the palins like the Sioux, Comanche, etc. lived on a red meat diet, buffalo and when times were tough, deer and antelope and other four legged furry creatures.

When you look at old photos these Indians looked pretty healthy with physiques that look like they worked out in a gym every day.

I’m lactose intolerant so I don’t do dairy anyways, so it’s not hard to miss it. There is a meal plan called Sakara Life that I like, but it’s hella expensive so I bought the founders’ cookbook instead. If you can look past the Sex and the City-esque names for the dishes, it is all really good and easy to make. It’s called “Eat Clean, Play Dirty.” Yeah...I know. Again, it seems superficial but very healthy.

Definitely agree on having a good variety regardless of your diet. I’m also hearing more and more about intermittent fasting that has intrigued me. Not that I would start it but I’m curious about the science behind it.

Yeh, I’m kind of curious about fasting too. I’ve never eaten on regular schedule like most people. I’ve always gone at least 8 hours between noon meal and night meal. Sometimes more like 10-11 hours.

These guys on keto diets probably know more about this, but it’s my understanding keto mixed with fasting can be the fastest way to burn body fat.

I wouldn’t like being lactose intolerant. Life without cream wouldn’t be worth living. :)

Well they did work out on their reservations trying to stay alive and keeping their people fed. But I see what you mean because when I saw the videos of the First Thanksgiving at the Plymouth Plantation those Wampanoag Indians were some mean looking hombres sort of like an Indian Seal team. Their automatic tommohawk thrower the M-357 i was a weapon to be feared. That airborne Indian arrow shooter the AIAAS-155 XM was feared by those puzziefied Pilgrims for decades.

Well my cousin does eat too much red meat, he has been to the doctor, and humans are omnivores, so for almost all, other foods are necessary.
