And today marks the day when the tax changes take effect, IIRC.

Tens of millions of Americans are going to be taking home more money in their next paycheck.

The Left is furious about that.

    Misery?
Want to see misery - watch what happens to millions of retired people on fixed incomes when inflation kicks in. THAT'S misery.
Misery is when people who opted for variable rate mortgages get hit with interest rate rises.
Misery was this very scenario in 2007.

Only fools take out a variable rate mortgage.

Agreed - but that's what happens.
But it's equally foolish to carry credit card debt - which is always attached to variable rates. And that's what's happening now.
This is a boom fueled by debt - both national and personal.

lol, republicans weren't a majority in government in 2015 or 2016. All of 2017 the same Obama policies were still in place.

I'd say the next quarter looks better than the last few. Even if they over estimated.

Watch those on retirement accounts that are invested in interest bearing accounts when their returns grow as opposed to the last 8 years when they could get nothing. And you can't fix stupid for anyone who has taken out a variable rate these last 8 years or for the last 20 years.

Not when rates were 14.5% when I did back in 1984. First year was 9.5% and fortunately rates slowly fell and we refinanced at about 6.5% if I remember right.

Yes they were they held both House of Congress and the Democrats only had a lame duck President. And those years would have been even better had the markets expected a Republican president. As it was it took the actual election to move the economy into high gear. And no it was not Obama policy to make huge cuts in government regulations and taxes.

So have you gone back to our other thread and explained how Bush could have and should have vetoed the the Democrat 2009 budget as you asserted, if so I'll go and respond or you can just explain here.

We beat other buyers by ten minutes to assume a mortgage at 10% in 1979 and celebrated that we got so lucky. The prevailing rates were a lot higher than ten, but can't remember what it was.

The inflation rate in 1979 was 11%. Basically, someone paid you 1% point to have a mortgage.

As to other posters above, I wouldn't celebrate too much when savings account interest rates go up. That means that inflation also goes up. REAL return is important, and that is as lousy if your savings account pays 1% interest at 2% inflation, or 4% at 5% inflation. Retirees on fixed income are usually hammered by inflation.

You are correct about those on a fixed income.

With fixed rate mortgages so cheap right now, anyone with a variable rate loan is a moron and deserves what they get.

it's still so ****ing hilarious that you refuse to learn basic civics.

They held only 1 branch of government. They did not have veto proof majority in that branch. Lol

Oh, for God's sakes...do you know ANYTHING about what you are talking about?

    Earth to Trumpbot?

The GDPNow almost ALWAYS starts out with a ridiculously high number before it settles on their final one. It did this last quarter too. It does this MOST quarters.

    DUH!!!

God save us from these macroeconomic amateurs.

They held 2 of the three entities that run the government. Too bad your 6th grade civics education did not teach you that or how the budget process works. Like how was Bush supposed to have vetoed the Democrats 2009 budget as you claimed he should have done.

Of course, that simplistic view leaves out the info that the Fed had to fight debt deflation after the great recession. They really should have gone negative with the interest rate, as the European central bank did for a short period.

Nothing to prove. Anyone who presents data would know that the y-axis scale should start at 0, not at 1400. PhD students fail exams for mistakes like that.
