I'd say, lets create the wealth tax that Warren is proposing. Then lets close many of the tax loopholes the wealthy take advantage of. If you have 130 billion like Jeff Bazos and your workers are all earning barely living wages, you can easily pay 22% of new income on top of that 130 billion in taxes.

 

You have to look at all taxes not just income tax and you have to look at effective tax rates not the max tax bracket. You have to look at the payroll tax, social security tax, sales tax, property tax, etc. We pay hundreds of dollars in property taxes in mortgages and higher rent. In effective tax rates the super-rich pay about 20%, the rich pay about 35%, the middle class pays about 25%, and the poor pay about 15%. But the incomes of the poor have fallen by 10% since 1980, while they have grown for the middle class by 15%, and grown for the super-rich by 300%. This is why we have progressive taxes that benefit the working class more.

 

I don't care about fair share. I believe in a tax rate for each group that maximizes the success of the working class.

 

Who really cares about this? After being told by her parents she has Native American ancestry, she believes it. Not only that but a DNA test proved she has Native American ancestry. This is so pointless as a scandle. Total non-issue.

Another thing it's seems hypocritical coming from the right where people like Trump and Steve King are not only a part of the party but is very protective of.

 

A single ancestor some 5 generations back does NOT make your RACE or your ancestry American Indian. Her parents were no American Indian and she knew it. And she lied about using it to gain advantage.

Certainly. But that rule is long gone. Unconstitutional. This isn't Jim Crow era anymore=) If you're 1/2 and 1/2 you can identify as either since yo're equal. But like I said, there is NO BENEFIT to identifying as white. NONE. Not a single program or service that ONLY white people can get. But being a little black? That gets you every AA benefit there is and there are tons, from scholarships, to job opportunities, to awards, to conferences, to speaking engagements, to movie and book deals, and all the identity politics that get you off the hook for saying completely racist crap that if uttered by a white person, would end their career.

What utter toss... The reason this is so damning for Liz is because she used this lie to advance her career. "First woman of color"... "First NA woman" etc. for those organizations that hired here. She could have said “I am in no part Native American, I so wanted to be a heir to the noble First Americans, that I allowed ‘wishful thinking” to cloud my judgment and take privileges that weren’t mine. I now have accountants working to see how much I gained with those privileges and I will be setting up a foundation to repay, with interest, true Native Americans.”

If she didn't believe that she was Native American, she would not have publicly revealed the results of her DNA test to try and prove it. It's clear that she didn't know. Therefore, she didn't lie.

There's nothing that I see on the Texas bar admission criteria that includes Affirmative Action. She is also listed as white on personnel records at the University of Texas.

As for your question about the Portugese, in the U.S. there are two approaches used to determine if someone is Latino. Using the second approach, people are allowed to self-identify as Latino (or not). For U.S. Census Bureau purposes, people from Portugal can choose for themselves. Only in the eyes of the census. The county I live in defines Portuguese to be of Russian Heritage for the purposes of employment. I check before putting down Latino when trying to get a county job in 2002. Warren should have checked too.

 

I don't know where your thinking that her DNA doesn't contain at least one Native American anscestor, but she does, according to the tea, has one Native American Ansector 6-10 generations ago. Which fits her family lore and everything she claimed to be true, is true.
