Of course, those who are the most vocal advocates for Affirmative Action have never had a pint of beer with a minority cab driver or spent time in a majority.-minority neighbourhood themselves - They are only interested in demonstrating their virtue and generousity to cement their own feelings of superiority.

These people most often belong to the groups they themselves perceive as "privileged", but since they work for the government, their professions are of special and protected status that will not be particularly affected by Affirmative Action policies which means these people can maintain the image of themselves as "noble front-figures of social charity" while not having to associate with the "unprivileged pariah" themselves.

Meanwhile, they make the "unprivileged" feel inferior and helpless and in need of their help to succeed which further strokes the AA-proponents' egos and megalomania.

    - Affirmative Action is both smug and condescending because it is a way for the ruling class to demonstrate their own superiority through fake genouristy and thus cement a feeling of inferiority and helplessness in the "unprivileged".

    - Affirmative Action is unattainable because it focuses on equality of numerical outcomes rather than respecting that each one of us are unique individuals with unique, personal goals and objectives that have nothing to do with our gender and race.

    - Affirmative Action creates social conflict as groups who not benefit from it view groups who do with suspicion and minorities at a work-place willl be viewed as "one of those" by their collegues who view them as incompetent and someone who only got the position because they look how they look.

    - Affirmative Action assumes "social privilege" is found in our gender and skin which means that a White man from a poor, single-mother household is regarded as more privileged than, say, an African female who grew up in a household of parents who were diplomats and who sent her to fancy, private schools.

    - Affirmative Action gives government the power to trump our freedom of association.

    - Affirmative Action is unnecessary in a society where everyone is equal under the law.

Exactly. Additionally Martin Luther King Jr. would be against affirmative action since it is contrary to his dream that all persons would be judged on the content of their character and not on the color of their skin.

The most twisted quote of MLK. He also said this "A society that has done something special against the Negro for hundreds of years must now do something special for the Negro."
He had a dream of equality that was based in reality. There was no way the bulk of society would change right away on its own.
He actually included all disadvantaged minorities.

And that special something was to treat all people based on the content of their character and not the color of their skin.

I'm talking about academically selective schools. They take students ONLY on academic merit - via entry exam.

I'm for the separation of school and state. Why would anyone trust their children to be educated by an institution predicated upon the initiation of violence?

In my country home-schooling is completely illegal and if you do it anyways, the government will take away your children and lock you up.

Although there are "private schools" these are not free to operate exactly how they want as they still have to obey the State's curriculum and adapt to its restrictions. These schools are also under a lot of attack from the media and it is often the topic of debate when politicians play dress-up to appear on telly to spit their scripted cliches.

    Mad world.

That sounds horrific. Like a 1984 society. I'm sorry for you, truly.

Do you know what the main argument against homeschooling here is? Hold on to your hat because this might blow you off your chair.... "But, but, but... How will the child learn to socialise?!"

It is funny because when you tell an American about homeschooling being illegal, their reaction is usually the same as yours - "Well, what the heck?! Do you live in some sort of dictatorship?"

As an Equalitarian and civil rights activist, I believe everyone should be judged as individuals based on their merit and their race and gender should not even matter
    .
Martin Luther King JR dreamed of a day when everyone would be judged based on the content of character, not the color of their skin but Affirmative Action judges people based on the color of their skin.

You can either believe what MLK Jr. believed that people should not be judged based on the color of their skin or you can believe in affirmative action that people should be judged based on the color of their skin

But you cannot believe in both of those things.

It has to be the one or the other.

I recently voted and their was an initiative on affirmative action.

It was worded in such a way that I wasn't sure if I was voting for or against affirmative action-lol

What makes you think that affirmative action doesn’t judge people based on their actions as well and their abilities? And example would be when women were admitted to Harvard, they didn’t accept them all

    Lol..
Another conspiracy by the top scientists from all over the world.

Do you know the intricacies of foreign school systems? Do you know the intricacies of the school system in my country? If not, why not? You should do your homework. You could learn a lot.

It's legal here (just as in America), and Progressives hate it. They openly admit that it gives parents 'too much influence'. The mask slips, and their real goal is exposed.

Calling it Orwellian seems an understatement.

Because Affirmative Action believes minorities deserve college and work because they are minorities and not because they are human. Women gained the right to attend Harvard because they were recognised as individuals. It had zero to do with Affirmative Action.
