Let me answer for the curious: I don't care who ordered the unsealing, I don't care who filed the motion. I don't care for names and sources either. All I care about is that now that Garland has thrown down the gauntlet so to speak, he needs to show us the American Public what he's got and that process is beginning now.

Who 'ordered' it, etc is meaningless. I could care less. It doesn't put the ball in anyone's court, it's basic freaking transparency.

 

When has any criminal investigation ever operated that way?

I'd give it less than 0.5% chance there wasn't overwhelming justification.

No way they would blow this up unless they were sure. And it must be highly significant.

But trump could put this to bed if there was nothing to it. Just release the warrant and tell the world what they were looking for.

 

It's the official response ordered by the Judge to the motion already filed. The DOJ can call it a motion which makes the other motion before the court moot. It (the other motion) will most likely be dismissed because the DOJ agreed to unseal that warrant.

I see nothing about the affidavit itself. The motion by the DOJ was limited in scope referring only to "limited warranty materials". This is just a game of one upmanship by Garland making it looked like they were in favor of unsealing it all along. It's just a coincidence that the Judge ordered them to respond to a previous motion to unseal it.

 

If the Trump team wants to keep it quiet, it's within their legal rights to do so but Trump can't have it both ways where he wants to publicly call out the DOJ but then say "never mind, I don't want these dirty details released". If it is a public case(and it is, even if Trump didn't say anything at all) then we're entitled to the nominal disclosure procedures.

Garland is attempting to prosecute the first former President in US History, that case needs to be made to the American Public in the proper order and I'm expecting Garland to do so in time, regardless of what Trump wants..

 

He's a senile (at best) bumbling idiot that obviously relies on Jill to dress him in the morning.

 

If he did why not charge him? No, they are in search of evidence to "get" him.

 

Garland has no obligation to defend his actions or justify anything to the public. That will happen in court.

 

They are getting close to filing charges on several levels. But they want to be sure they can go after the most egregious crimes first.

Why would the DOJ, request to have their own warrant they requested sealed (unsealed) with a judge who has already ruled that the DOJ has until Monday to either file reasons it shouldn't be unsealed.

 

Uh no, he ruled on the motion. Or it wouldn't be heard in the first place.

They aren't in the habit of raiding the homes of former Presidents under the PRA. They aren't in the habit of doing so with cooperative persons concerning civil matters.

This is unpreciedented move by government agency which has worked against his election and his holding office under false pretenses. They have an ethical duty to insure the American people this isn't more of the same.
