They got a slide out of sequence and displayed it when it was supposed to be displayed and discussed it. What's the big deal here? It was a on air production error had nothing to do with an "editorial mistake". You seem to want some egg on your face too.

I know he topped Hannity that night he had that blockbuster reveal of Trump's tax return where it showed Trump paid a higher tax rate than Hillary, Obama, and Commie Bernie Sanders.

The media as a whole isn't trusted anymore. Only 32% say they have "a great deal" or "a fair amount" of trust in the media when it comes to reporting the news fully, fairly and accurately.

    http://news.gallup.com/poll/195542/americans-trust-mass-media-sinks-new-low.aspx

Since Gallup doesn't say, I do wonder the percentage between great deal and fair amount? Then what exactly is a fair amount of trust. Over 50% of the time, 40% of the time or what? Fair amount of trust is probably like those favorability polls. They ask do you view so and so very favorable, somewhat favorable, somewhat disfavorable or very disfavorable. What is somewhat?

I think one can safely say that the majority of Americans don't trust the media to report the news in a straight fashion without biases one way or the other.

As for Trump, only 18% of all Americans think he is honest. 42% think not and the rest unsure. Question 64A. For other views on trump keep going down the list. Trustworthy wasn't listed, so Honest comes closest to trustworthy.

    https://d25d2506sfb94s.cloudfront.net/cumulus_uploads/document/maf7idof71/econTabReport.pdf

For the news networks, Fox is seen by 31% of Americans to be trustworthy, CNN 33%, MSNBC at 32%. So all the cable news networks are all the same as far as trust goes. For a total rundown it is question 40A-F on the link above.

There's lost of good information if one delves deep inside these polls instead of just looking at the headlines.

When it comes to news, I don't understand why one needs polls for any reason. I can watch any news show, and know immediately if I am being provided information or editorial. When I am provided information, I trust it, if it is editorial, it is irrelevant, because then it is a personal belief.

Most news show, certainly local, provide local events, there is no reason why I shouldn't trust them reporting events. In fact, local morning news is 95% traffic and weather, and I certainly trust them in those areas. So anyone who goes around complaining about fake news are most certainly not watching the local news, can't say what they watch for national news, but in general, all of them report events, anything is editorial.

    MSNBC is 100% commentary.

There's not one news program on MSNBC, it's all commentary and individual opinions nothing more.

You're correct on local news and local stories. But what Gallup was referring to was the national media and so too was yougov. The percentages cited refer to national news outlets. YouGov even mentions CNN, MSNBC and Fox News, all national. Local is something entirely different.

I understand, but when even national news is conducted, it too follows the same platform for their stories. They report on events, I see nothing fake nor misleading about it. One can make the argument, they did not see certain events or certain coverage on one outlet from the other, the events or issues that are covered, are not something that is be "trusted" or not. None of them report on events that don't exist. I understand complaints about editorials, but other than that, this is completely over blown.

Funny that the OP screwed it up by not watching the video he posted where they show the graph in its proper place in the show and discuss it.

very telling that the Guardian doesn't mention the rest of the poll
here I will provided it because they refuse to do so

More than 3-in-4 Americans believe that traditional major TV and newspaper media outlets report “fake news,”
    https://www.monmouth.edu/polling-institute/reports/monmouthpoll_us_040218

so there you have it over 75% of the public says News outlets report Fake News
    and then we have this

Just 25% say the term “fake news” applies only to stories where the facts are wrong. Most Americans (65%), on the other hand, say that “fake news” also applies to how news outlets make editorial decisions about what they choose to report.

it just isn't what the news media reports that gets them called Fake News it is what they don't report like what they just did in the OPs article

    lol, too funny

they wanted to show Trump's base still trusted trump, but it also showed how low the trust of fox was by the same people polled

seems Trump and Fox have a very low trust rating right now

Not necessarily. I have seen a story reported on Fox, followed by a guest, guests or a panel to explain it all. Same for CNN. You're right it is the same story, event or happening. But explained differently as to what each event, happening or story means or meant. There have been times where they start the story and end the story is different. Where editing takes place.

My viewing habits is to usually start on Fox, when a commercial comes on to switch to CNN until they show a commercial and back to Fox. If Fox has a commercial on at the same time, then I go to MSNBC. That is until they show a commercial and then back to Fox or CNN. Since MSNBC is the third choice, I don't really watch it much.

When all three are showing commercials at the same time, then it's time for ESPN or MLB Network. That usually ends my news for the day.
