Maybe it's 2 hours/1 hour each way, which seems like reasonable maximum to me.

It depends on what's important to you.

Depends if your devices have enough battery power on my commutes, no lie.
Some trains do have a socket if you carry your charger with you but my station is the last station with the train having any seats left and... by the time I get my train, any socket's are taken by someone on a laptop if they're already settled in. My commuter stop every stop train can get stupid packed for a 20 minute 7 mile journey during rush hour.

IMO it should be rolled over to next fiscal year's budget.

I used to commute 45 min each way in my car and have been super happy about getting a new job a year ago with a grand total driving time of 7 minutes! :)
Long commute gets old. When I got this job I felt like I stretched my day by 1.5 hours. I will never commute so much again - you literally waste a significant portion of your day on the road.

I have 2 kids at home. I prefer to spend extra time with them instead of spending it alone in my car.

The amount of bullshit talked here is actually priceless.

No, i dont commute 2h a day. I drive 15 minutes by car. If traffic is high, im at work in 20 minutes.

I uses train when i have lessons or seminars outside my state. Like Stuttgart or Halle. Or Kiel for example. I never commute in my entire life.

We have highspeed railway in Germany. Munich Berlin is in 4h. Munich to Hamburg 6h. My city to Berlin 2h. The trains go by 300km/h. Add the time lf the stops and you can calculate quite good.

It’s curious that your town with such low level of population has trams. Just a few lines, but still, you don’t see those things in small standalone towns.

I'll be honest Sobo. I don't tend to remember the details of people online who disagree with me a lot. No offense intended.

Gotha is special, because it has high cultural value. I dont know how express it in english, but it was important power center and even the british royal family comes from here. So its bit different to other towns that size.

Few by numbers and only old people. In polls they could not find a single person under 40 believing in god. Thats unique in the world.

    Thats a small thing.

We have a castle bigger than Buckingham Palace

Whats really intersting is, that there is a gigantic tunnel network under the city

It spans the entire city. Was used from the palace guard. They could go anywhere without being seen. You have entrys in so many houses basement.

    When you look at this

Though I'm personally a bit claustrophobic I've always been fascinated by tunnel networks.. There was one under the university I graduated from. And there is a tunnel from the Arkansas governors mansion to a building a couple of blocks away. When Bill Clinton was governor he (reportedly) used it to sneak out and meet women.

The most interesting tunnel networks are those which were built completely unintentionally like the ones at the university and governors mansion. Largely they were originally utility access points.

Here the tunnel network starts under the castle and leads under the city. Some tunnels go outside the city and end in the forest. Its kinda cool when you see the entrance in the middle of the forest.

Those where the times when a town could not rely on any other power but itself for self defense.
Kind of proves what kind of chaos Germany was in the Middle Ages.
