Yes. Illegal immigrants walk up openly. Get rounded up and then released after they claim asylum.

No, it doesn't make sense to me, but it does to Biden for some reason.

So, Haitians are marxists by birth. Okey dokey.

Well, they fly them to Haiti and release them there, so they are not claiming anything. Heck activists are ripping Biden for it, but it is what it is.

Don't laugh. Republicans didn't do much better.

I'll bite my tongue mentioning who was in charge.

The Republicans in Congress didnt do squat. The Republican in the Presidential office brought illegal crossing down to a historic low. Imagine what he could of done with an assist from Congress.

Not necessarily but they vote for the party that brought them to the dance. They don't have much else to offer.

Haitians have been freed on a "very, very large scale" in recent days, one official said Tuesday. The official, who was not authorized to discuss the matter and thus spoke on condition of anonymity, put the figure in the thousands.

If that is true, then why did he lie and say the situation under him was worse than ever before in US history and people were FLOODING across the border?

To call attention to the situation, and fix it, which he did.

Trump lied to make things better, and it worked.

The Democrats lie in order to make things worse, and, well, just look at the border disaster now.

You do realize that it's much worse now, right?

And maybe he lied about the numbers too. Or maybe he told CBP to stand down to make arrest numbers look smaller. Or Maybe he just lied because that's what liars do.

Its interesting that your link has a chart showing the numbers from year 2000, and then declining until 2011 and then stayed there, and Trumps number is in the same ballpark, so all the talk about "worst than ever", and "I fixed it" is just a steamy heap of horse puckie.

So you're just going to ignore the 10s of thousands of illegal immigrants under a bridge and pretend like it was all exactly the same under Trump?

    Denial of reality.

    That's a bold strategy, Cotton.

I remember when a few dozen kids in cages(under Obama, but blamed on Trump) seemed like a huge humanitarian crisis.

    Those were the days.

That was then, this is now.

But let's pretend this is just more of the same. That'll be fun.

Ignore it? No, I opened a thread about it.

I never said that. Why so dishonest. You having trouble comprehending what you read. I was referring to YOUR chat, which went from 2000 to 2017. I said his numbers in 2017 were in the same ballpark as the numbers going back to 2011. Its right there in your own chart. The numbers are higher in 2021, which is the topic of the conversation. If you didn't want to discuss your chart then why the heck did you post it? Sheesh!

    Is this a reasonable graph?

Yes it looks better and I've acknowledged that. Trump did hit a good spot, and probably related to his tough approach and also the fact that he has a reputation for being tough. Biden has a reputation for being soft. It may not actually be the case but that reputation alone might cause people to come to the border. The right wing media has not helped here.

I'd like to give it a bit more time though because of covid there seems to be a break in the pattern. We could be seeing a post- Covid surge.

    It was all very predictable.

A soft-on-immigration president takes over, and illegal immigration surges.

Did anybody who voted for Biden didn't think this was going to happen?

    I guess it's all Tulsi's fault.

Yes, it shows the same pattern of the numbers coming down rapidly from 2000 to low levels around 2010 and stay low for about 8 years. Then there is a spike in 2019 and now in 2021.

Two things can cause spike in numbers:
    1. More people coming
    2. Same amount coming, but more arrested

They really need to put aside politcs in the US and do what works (like we did). Ideally, these decision should be taken out of politicians hands entirely.
