The NRA is probably fighting against doctors due to the agenda being pushed by certain people.

The fact is pretty simple, the fear of guns is irrational in the grand scheme of things and laws cannot be made based on emotion. They just can't. Under no circumstances whatsoever can laws be made based on emotion.

"You" will not be killed or wounded in a mass shooting in the United States. "You" also won't win the lottery. Of course the word "you" is not used in the literal sense because people have obviously been killed or wounded in mass shootings and people have also won the lottery. But there is a reason why every logical human being on Earth tells you that spending your paycheck on lottery tickets as a valid investment for your future is asinine. "You" aren't going to win the jackpot. Yes, people do win obviously, but it won't be "you".

Mass shootings are in the same category. Mass shootings, in spite of what agenda's are being pushed and what the media says and what you see with your myriad of media at your fingertips tells you, are rare. They are. Period. You seriously do have a better chance of slipping in your bathroom and landing your head in the toilet and drowning than you do being the victim of a mass shooting. But the outrage and fear is brought by the constant media coverage of these things which makes it seem like the next time you go to see a movie you need to wear body armor because a nutcase off his meds is going to walk in there and start shooting at you with an AR-15.

People are scared of all sorts of things that from a pure non emotional and statistical standpoint make no actual sense. Put people are human, humans have fears, and whether those fears are rational or irrational we can't exactly tell people what they should be scared of. There are millions of people who drive around society everyday who are honestly afraid of ever getting on an airplane. That fear is irrational, and statistically makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, but they are still afraid nonetheless.

Point is, let doctors research gun violence if they so desire. Show the gruesome images and statistics or whatever else they want. The problem isn't them it's the people and people who are unable to separate their own personal emotions from reality. This whole "we have a gun problem in America" thing is basically shock therapy. We don't treat anything else the way we treat firearms as far as agenda's go. Nothing else with the ability to kill you gets treated the same way as guns do even though guns are pretty far down the totem pole of things that are actually statistically likely to harm or kill you on a daily basis.

The problem I'm sure the NRA has with this isn't necessarily what the doctors ARE doing but what they AREN'T doing. Why is the outrage of the medical professionals not equally distributed? Where is their outrage about automobile fatalities? Or outrage against fast food chains who serve cheap and super convenient food that lets you pick up a heart attack in a bag for a couple dollars without ever even leaving your car?

That's the issue I believe. Selective outrage is a HUGE problem that society has as a whole and the NRA being a firearms based organization likely has a problem with the selective outrage that doctors are portraying.

It is an accurate summary of the report, you know the report that by your 'fact' shouldn't exist. Read it. It isn't the only one...

You read the CDC report? And, called it propaganda? Does your intellectual dishonesty know no bounds? I know, silly question... I know the answer.

Can you cite a source that reports that the NRA told the CDC this?

    You didn't answer my question.
And, whether you consider the CDC study biased or unbiased, the post proved you 'fact' not a fact.

:roflol: PATHETIC! You said that the NRA told the CDC "if you research gun control that is career suicide." I ask you to support that by citing a source, and you respond by saying that it is the law! What the hell are you talking about? You are making no sense whatsoever!

Oh I tried, believe me, but a Google search for, "nra cdc career suicide" return zero relevant results! So again, what in the hell are you talking about?

Which would be Constitutional given that the Founding Fathers originally set up a national database of firearm owners with the Militia Acts as a means of REGULATING the 2nd Amendment.

you all seem to think that a "registry" designed to make sure those who might answer the call up have sufficient arms is the same power as registration of every firearm owned by every american. Its not and to put to bed the idiocy of some trying to use the militia act to support gun control-remember two things

    1) not a single attempted gun control law has cited the Militia acts-rather they use the FDR mutation of the commerce clause

    2) and by analogy-when one is in active service-the government can tell you where you go, where you work, what you wear and what arms you bear. when you are a private citizen the government cannot tell you where to go, where you work, what you wear and what arms you can own
