Apparently the deductibles are eating everyone's lunch. Since 2008 they have risen 212%. Thanks ACA.

They are high. What percentage of that is healthcare? The details are everything. They are the rock your argument breaks upon.

Deductibles rise because health fund and medical services providers' shareholders' families have to eat too.

No they aren't. It is a simple comparison. Here, I get to keep most of my money I earn. There, you give nearly half to the govt in taxes.

    No thank you.

Yeah, I hear ya. I am not here to defend Wall st. I actually started the thread to get a conversation going about potential ways to correct this.

Health insurance is an oxymoron. The idea of making profit from healthcare is too. Not to mention evil to the core.

17.9% of GDP vs 11.1% of GDP. Anyone with a calculator can see you're a fool for supporting the current system.

No. You're not going to get away with that. If you're bitching about the cost of healthcare, then use the numbers for healthcare. The numbers say that the Canadian model kicks our right in the nuts. I've given you the numbers that prove that. Give me the numbers - THE SPECIFIC NUMBERS - that don't, or admit you can't, and are relying on emotions in a fekkin' facts fight...

I am not a Repubican't. I am a libertarian, but I am not afraid to vote either way. I voted for Kerry in 2004, and Ron Paul in 2008 2012 and abstained in 2016. This year I am voting Democrat down the line because I want to see Schumer's cannabis bill get passed, as well as giving Trump someone besides the do-nothing Republican'ts to work with. Maybe a couple of blue-dog conservative Democrats, like Phil Bredesen from TN will be able to get some things done with Trump.

We gave you the answer. You rejected it out of hand for ideological reasons in the face of facts and figures that show just how wrong you are.

Ok, so becoming a Dr so you can make a lot of money makes you evil.

And, forcing them to provide HC is slavery.

Thank AT&T and your insurer. Blaming the guy in front of you for the hand of the guy behind you up your ass is a little stupid.

No one is forcing them to do shiite, and no one ever said doctors were automatically entitled to riches. If they don't like the system, they don't have to participate. The state owns their medical license. If they want to keep it, they play by the state's rules. Otherwise, they can work at WalMart with my blessing...

No, I reject single payer for actual reasons. For instance, exorbitant tax rates, wait times, and no access to drugs.

And yet, we've shown that they are paying MUCH less, per capita and as a percentage of GDP, than we are. What does that say about us?

No, your ideological myopia is preventing you from acknowledging who is actually screwing you.

They are paying, as individual taxpayers, significantly higher amounts of their income in taxes than US citizens pay in premiums and taxes combined, so forget about it.

Before 1973 it was illegal to profit from healthcare. That model worked for 184 years. In the 45 years since that changed, our healthcare system has gone straight to hell in the name of profit.

You want a solution? Repeal the HMO Act of 1973 and go single payer. Anything else is a band-aid over a severed femoral artery.

Wrong. We're on the hook for twice what they are, because our average deductibles alone are equivalent to what they pay in taxes per individual on healthcare each year.

And they have no deductibles to go with what they pay. We're on the hook for both. Do the fekkin' math. You're a science major? Act like it and do the simple math.

We half agree. There is no way the US goes single payer. Especially not if you have been paying attention lately. Trump is cutting taxes and regulations, and the economy is firing on all cylinders. Even if single payer was a good idea, it will never happen. Get over it.

Now, as far as repealing HMOs. Great idea. I never wanted that to begin with. I don't have a problem with HMOs specifically. But, I think we should be able to purchase health ins without one. Kinda like getting car ins. Just go online and get it.

There you go, trying to seperate things again. Its actually simple. In Canada, you make 83k and pay 35k in taxes. Keep it.

DO THE MATH. That tax bill of theirs is NOT all healthcare, and you're making yourself look like a fool acting like it is. SHOW SOME INTELLECTUAL HONESTY. Because your claim rates a 'Pants on fricken' fire.' It's a flat-out lie. A PERCENTAGE of those high taxes go to healthcare. The vast majority goes to everything else. Like over 75%. So, more than 75% of that tax bill you're pissing and moaning about goes somewhere besides healthcare.

Which kinda torpedoes your argument at the waterline. Again.
