I know some senators were unhappy with the briefing. The really important things to me are that I believe the actions taken were in keeping with the intent of the War Powers Act, and they were reported to Congress.

I agree with you that these AUMF's should have a sunset date, at which time they may or may not be renewed.

I believe strongly, and I have stated it many times on PF, that we should end our military missions in Syria and Iraq and pull out our troops. Neither country is the 51st state. I think we should let Syria and Iraq control their own destinies without the U.S military in country.

Your guess is silly. Rational people will place the blame where it belongs.

Apparently everyone is supposed to just forget Iran's rocket attack in Kirkuk and the attack on the US Embassy in Baghdad, prior to taking out Soleimani, like it never happened.

Iran made a mistake taking down that plane, a big mistake, but get real Trump is not the aggressor here and I think he is showing remarkable restraint.

Now Balad Airbase has been attacked by eight rockets. Balad houses both US and coalition troops.

How convenient. Why stop at Kirkut? Short memory?

On the other hand, many of their factional problems involve decisions made by Britain and France regarding their borders following WW I and the break-up of the Ottoman Empire. And, the Brits and the French were acting under the auspices of the League of Nations. While we were not a member, we acknowledged that perhaps we should have been, with our support for the U.N. and collective security after WW II. Rightly or wrongly, we also assumed the role of the former colonial powers after WW II, in our own fear of international communism. And, while Democrats (FDR & Truman) largely pushed for collective security, there was a bi-partisan anti-communist approach to U.S. foreign policy. Republicans at the time pushed for MORE aggressive U.S. action to "push back" communism, while Democrats called for "containment."

We'll see the direction the protests take and how many protest. I would doubt the numbers of those calling for regime change come close to the numbers that turned out to protest our drone strike...but we'll see where it goes. Either way...I seriously doubt the U.S. electorate will support a war with Iran, at this time.

I see the ninja edit. To that I say:

It used to house US and coalition troops.

I never claimed it would, just that rational people will blame Iran for what they did.

Do you think "rational people" will think that the military shot down the commercial Ukrainian airliner on purpose?

They may question it but at the very least, they will think them some bumbling idiots. Especially given the attempted, cover up.

Anyhow, rational people wont try and blame the POTUS.

Thats how it works with the left-ignore inconvenient facts, make up facts as you see fit-as long as it advances the agenda.

Iran isn't even blaming Trump-just top dems and the msm. :roflol:

I know! It's the most crazed and bizarre thing I have ever seen.

It doesn't even matter what the topic is either. Trump is always to blame!

I got a flat tire on my bicycle a while back. While some may try to blame a sharp object I ran over, I'm "woke" and realize it was the bad Orange man!

Hmmm...I think rational people will probably blame the drone strike on him. Virtually all military forces make occasional deadly mistakes. We shot down an Iranian commercial jet over the Persian Gulf a number of years ago. Pro-Russian militias shot down a Dutch airliner over the Eastern Ukraine. Etc., etc.

Are you suggesting that the activities ordered by Trump (the assassination) had no connection whatsoever with the downing of that Iranian airplane?

You can stop right there, with your attempt to change the topic. This is not about a drone strike. You want to discuss those? Start with Obama INTENTIONALLY droning a US citizen.

I don't blame the President for the accidental missile launch against the Ukrainian airliner, but do you seriously think it would have occurred without our drone strike? We ARE talking about the current situation, not whether or not it's right or wrong to deploy drones against U.S. citizens.
    What's your point/

I LOLed very loudly. Did you just NOT bring up an event from 1988? LOLOL

And no, you cant get me to sit here and blame our President, even remotely. I have better sense than that. It's all on Iran, every bit of it.

We were talking about what the Iranians think, not you...unless of course you are an Iranian. Are you an Iranian?

So why are you trying to blame our President or resurecting an event from 1988?

I specifically said I didn't blame the President. And, I compared the Iranian accidental shoot-down of the Ukrainian airliner to other similar historical events. Isn't that what "rational people" would do? Isn't the discussion over what the reaction of the Iranian people will be to the airliner shoot down? Seems to me that you may want to limit the discussion to your own conclusions?
