Based on that you couldn't be more wrong if you actually were a Democrat. Touchy feely hair sniffing Joe isn't classically classy and articulate? Well....
Maybe he has better hair, what's left of it.

Yeah, the folk from the "northeast corridor" are a stupid lot.

But your guy Trump won big in the American Intellectual Belt...ya know, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana...and the others.

Ok.When did you arrive at that conclusion.3 or 4 years ago.?
Or 5,maybe 7 years ago_Or after he wanted to bet Obama about
his Birth certificate. That would be 2011.
Meaning it's entirely political.I doubt Trump talked any different
10-20 years ago.He always had a big head and bragged constantly.

No point in continuing. You believe tariffs are taxes. I know they are not. They are import duties. I pointed out just two of the major differences between and taxes and tariffs and you just waved them off. See you around.

Our hard core republican family doesn't like Trump. They support him only because he's not Hillary. That's hard to argue, because in that respect, they are absolutely right. She would have been a disaster, too. It just would have been a disaster of a different flavor.

"Tariffs, or taxes imposed on imports . . . "
"In simplest terms, a tariff is a tax."
    "Because a tariff is a tax . . ."
"A tariff is a tax imposed by one country on the goods and services imported from another country."
"Tariff, also called customs duty, tax levied upon goods as they cross national boundaries, usually by the government of the importing country."
"A tariff is a kind of tax on goods a country imports or exports."
"A tariff is a form of tax imposed on imported goods or services."
"A tariff is a tax on imports or exports."

Even if you want to call them a duties (which are another form of tax), it remains an artificial cost increase to businesses just to maintain status quo. And it remains part of Congress's powers, not the President's.

Unfortunately he waved his magic "national security" wand that allows him to do this. It's bull of course but there you have it. Normally when a duty is imposed it is to stimulate domestic production and reduce imports but since we don't know one hour to the next if and when the duty will be lifted domestic investors shy away. Who wants to build a factory based of tariff prices not knowing if you'll have the opportunity to recoup your investment before tariffs are lifted?
Since there is little incentive to increase domestic production the only hurt to China is some people can no longer afford the products being taxed. Notice what China is putting retaliatory duties on? Things they can easily buy elsewhere even if a little more expensive.
Bottom line is the American consumer is paying his duties, a tax increase impacting the middle classes hardest. And American farmers are being crushed by the lost market that they may or may not be able to get back.

Do you even know where you speak.Or is mere speaking enough to
overthrow yer own common sense. If Hillary was President this country
would be Literally in the throes of a Authoritarian takeover the likes of which
our Country has never witnessed. Our Country would seem little different than
a Banana Republic. It would be like the cartoonish way Hillary Lied as did
Obama about the Benghazi attack. The way Hillary handled the Benghazi
outpost which we found out later was actually used as a storing house
for Libya Captured weapons including Rockets.
Also the way Hillary and Bill did business.By playing favorites and
seeking graft to help enrich themselves at the cost of any and all.
By Lying and cheating as a matter of course. Not only did Hillary Lie
about how and why she set up her own Non-State Department approved
E-mail server system, she also lied about her E-mails being classified.
That is what you'd have on a daily basis.
At least Donald Trump can be seen as someone who wants to make
this Country great. Both Job-wise and Security-wise.2 hallmarks of
    a good country.

Huh? I said she'd be a disaster. You just explained to me that she would have been a disaster. Thanks Captain Obvious.

Trump is just a completely different type of disaster. We don't need 2nd graders running this country. He's a hot mess.

Trump is a jerkoff. He's always been a jerkoff...although I must acknowledge that I did not always realize it.

There was a time I admired him...thought him to be the kind of guy one should look up to.

    Boy was I wrong.

I got the first indication that I was seriously wrong about 15 years ago. I was in the City...and they had a fashion show in Bryant Park. Worthwhile to go over there...you see lots of famous people.

    Trump was one.

Most smiled and waved and generally enjoyed the crowd.

Trump stood there with a puss on that seemed almost like a joke. In fact, for the first few minutes I thought he was just joking.

He wasn't. He looked with obvious disdain on the dirty masses...and did not even attempt to hide his scorn.

He is the pits...whether you can see it or not.

Well I disliked him and his policies for 8 years so it's your turn to disagree. Trump is a better American President, Obama wanted to be World President. His theme was America is not exceptional, it's time for us to step back and accept a lower standard of living to match emerging economies. Trump took exception to that and put the world on notice that we damn well ain't done just yet.

You have a right to your opinion...and I respect that right. I think Trump has made the United States the laughing stock of the world. That, in fact, is why he is returning to the US at this moment with his tail tucked in between his legs.

You are incorrect. The president imposes tariffs. Congress imposes taxes.

The facts disagree with you, seeing as tariffs are taxes. But even if we ignore that and go with your argument that tariffs are duties (ignoring for the moment that duties are also taxes), it still doesn't matter. The Constitution says that Congress imposes TAXES AND DUTIES. It does not grant that power to the President. Your semantics won't help you here. The Constitution is against you.

The president has the power to enact tariffs because of laws passed by the Congress.

Laws can't fully delegate Constitutional powers from one branch to another. You need an amendment for that (please look up the non-delegation principle). Congress's legislation only allows the President to act as a "mere servant" of Congress, following their strict guidelines. That's not what Trump is doing.

He did in Saudia Arabia, and he's done worse than bow to other authoritarian regimes.
