I want to create a large private city in middle america that can outright ban guns.

They won't let you get the residents to have that kind of power. They will move on your unincorporated census-designated place before you can get strong. Mayors and city councilmen are not stupid. Annexation is about getting power. They would like to have more power. They are certain they are smarter and better at using power than the newbies are.

No one is getting exicuted. No one has to bow to the crown. The crown is equal to the power for the British queen (a little less) Its only there to appoint the Governor General. Nothing else.

Don't you have to build the city near another for them to annex you lol. If im a hundred miles away then they can't do much.

I wonder how big a problem that would really be. It isn't as though guns are the only defense people have available.

I'm also still wondering how this violation of constitutional rights differs from when it's implemented on a school or corporate campus, in a courthouse, etc. Can't take a gun just any old place. We already have lots of laws limiting their possession.

I think I would not feel safe in such a town. It is almost asking for someone to cause trouble since they know that the only people armed would be the authorities. But if everything is privately owned then it should be legal.

Why stop there? Go buy your own island and make it gun free.

Who told you that making guns illegal makes an area safe?

I'm interested where you got this idea.

You ever hear of Ruby Ridge? Waco too.

The Federals don't approve of your proposed sort of activities.
They may have to kill you to save you from yourself.

Well that explains it. Kill them before the cult does.
    Ruby Ridge too.

Beware. The Federals have a history of not appreciating such efforts as you describe.
I imagine you will have your own schools

Or their newly adult kid does it.

In this "perfect place", will the cops have guns?

How do you prevent gangs of youths from doing home invasions? Do you have to live in groups to protect yourself?

How do women protect themselves, or is everybody in this town virtuous and respectful of the rights of others?

Because this can only legally happen on private property, everything would have to be privately owned and leased or rented to tenants. Only a few would get rich or take risks. Everyone else would be a second class citizen with fewer rights.

Will the owners be allowed to carry guns on their own property? Would they be able to hire armed guards? Would armed police be their body guards?

A city is not the same thing as private property, so it couldn't be a city as such. Your police would be constrained because you couldn't have a jail, nor could they do anything other than make citizen arrests which do not allow handcuffs or transporting. You couldn't have a court of law for the same reason. As mayor of this "city" you would have no more power than you do on your own property. If somebody waltzes into the city with a gun, you would probably want to call the cops, but those would be sheriffs of the county your city is located in. You could charge them with trespassing, but that's it. Furthermore, residents of your city wouldn't have to subject themselves to being searched before entering their residence, nor could you demand that they hand over their guns.

So, the short answer is no.

In your fairy tale city, are the police going to be armed?

And criminals don't abide by the laws. So how are you going to keep criminals from obtaining/manufacturing guns?

And how is a 90 pound woman going to defend herself from a 250 pound rapist????

No, you couldn't do that. They could call the cops and after showing they have established residency in your city, you could be charged with attempted robbery.

How do you enforce the laws against no guns? What happens when a truckload of folks armed to the teeth show up and shoot their way in? How do you protect your airspace?

The private city's tax rate will be much higher than even that of Scandinavia. No one will be envious.

If you build a long way from another incorporated city, way out in the boonies, that fades the ideas that most suburban and city people have about how they want to live. It will be hard to attract residents -- except the kind of independent people you don't want.

The parameters and limits of annexation are whatever a court says these are.

If the person walking onto your property has ill intent, and you don't have any weapons, then no, you aren't stopping them from coming on your property with a gun.

At that instant no laws exist at all (for any practical, real life purpose). You are totally at the mercy of and in the control of the person with ill intent who has the gun.
