It is amazing, is it not? And the crazy thing, they tend to think that they are correct and you are not. A hundred and twenty news channels could say one thing, and their one can say another, and they will tell you, see everyone else is in the mainstream, not quite realizing that by saying so, it puts them outside of the mainstream but they think that they are in the majority which they are not because if they were in the majority, they would be the mainstream.

Perhaps the greatest defining characteristic tends to be the lack of education beyond high school. The greatest obstacle to propaganda is education. Those with a college education tend to be significantly knowledgeable as to history and the workings of the economy and the government, as well as at least a rudimentary understanding of the sciences. The intellectual divide began more than a hundred years ago, first coming to a head during Scopes Monkey Trial. It has gone well beyond FOX and Rush what’s his face. There were a lot of really wacky ones popping up on YouTube until they started cracking down on them. There are plenty of web sites and blogs full of it, as are the radio waves. It has become a subculture.

A few years back I had gone to my mom’s at Christmas time. My bother was also there. He had been living on the other side of the country. As such, since he was in town, he had invited three of his high school buddies over to visit. They sat around the kitchen table, the four of them, just like old times, drinking beers and swapping stories. The curious thing though, was that they kept talking about their athletic feats during high school. The touch downs and balls hit over the center field fence. It was almost insane. They were talking as if they had been the star jocks of the school, reliving their glory days. The thing though, none of them ever played high school sports. They were sitting around lying to each other, aware that everyone else was also lying, and fed upon each other’s lies.
