Yes, a liberal finds government power to be magical when applied to any problem, a libertarian finds government makes all problems worse, and conservatives are in the middle finding government power make the economy worse and the soul better.

Though I would say conservatives are slow libertarians, slowly waking up to the idea that government power cannot be grown in one area and reduced in another. It either has to be held in check across the board or it will grow across the board.

Libertarians would legislate on social issues if the legislation were enacted in a more voluntary (less authoritative) manner. The problem is that ALL of our proposed legislation on social issues rests upon the foundation of force- as in, you will participate or be treated as a criminal. Voluntary solutions are rarely if ever brought to the table.

Pretty much. Most conservatives are hypocrites. They decry government overreach and demand that people be left to their own devices but if its something that they don't like then all of a sudden they want the Feds to step in and regulate everything.

Many wanted flag burning to be made illegal, they threw temper tantrums cause some athletes kneeled at games and the one bill the proves beyond any doubut how hypocritical conservatives are is DOMA which was a huge government intrusion into a very private aspect of people's lives and conservatives were all for it at the time. They also don't seem to mind wasteful spending if its done by Republicans because I haven't heard a peep of criticism about the massive budget we just had last year.

Literally nothing in that budget did anything about the Obama years. We recovered because of tax cuts and reduced regulations. The extra bloated spending in that bill did NOTHING for the economy.

 

The country wasn't founded on marriage. For **** sake people were married long before the United States was even around.
