Millions of people live in poverty and do nothing to pull themselves out. A lot of them live that way by choice.

Some are lazy, some are stupid, some prefer to live outside of society, etc.

People don’t choose poverty. Dickensian pronouncements are no more true now than two hundred years ago.

Nonsense... I know plenty of people who live in poverty. They've been poor their whole lives, and they choose to live that lifestyle.

They're working poor. Most of them drink or smoke pot, and have no intention of changing.

I grew up in that environment and worked my way out of it, but I'm the only one. All my friends from back then are still living the lifestyle they grew up in.

    Nonsense back at you.
You’re a fortunate man to have the ability to navigate your way out of poverty.

Sally, those people are rednecks... they choose to live that way.

    They're country folk.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

I don’t believe I’m wrong. I believe that you’re clinging to old fashioned notions about poor people deserving of their poverty.

What's going wrong in a society to lock people up, and the more people a society needs to lock up, the greater the social problem it has.

And don't forget, allegedly, America is supposed to be The Land of the Free.

I didn't say they "deserve their poverty"... I said they choose to live that way.

It is the liberal mindset that assigns people to a permanent underclass... and some of them choose that too.

There are people who work their way out of it because they have more ambition and want better for themselves and their families, but there are many who don't even want to.

You need to read some leftist literature and get a handle on what you're shoveling.

The bourgeoisie needs to be wiped out, right?? Eveyone get on the dole, right?? As the old Soviet joke goes, "we pretend to work and they pretend to pay us". ;)

Yes, and yes. Raised in a working class family, and work with those in poverty.

On the contrary, they absolutely do. Every little bad choice (whether cigarettes, gambling, divorces, children, failure to take education seriously, money spent on fun & leisure, paying big city rents, etc etc etc) is the evidence of that.

You're confusing their childlike regret, with their intention.

The belief that they can't help it, is actually old fashioned. That's the 20thC lie used to leverage the Welfare State into perpetuity.

No. You’re talking like an admonishing parent. Why lump divorce in with those “sins”.

So what about people with health problems that make regular employment impossible.

How about people with mental problems.

How about people who get addicted to drugs their doctor gave them and end up on the streets.

How about all of the homeless veterans ruined by war. The gave their all for their country. And as soon as they get home, they are scorned as bums

Clearly you don't appreciate the joy women feel toiling in a cubicle for 40 years and being able to retire to a one bedroom apartment filled with cats, without having to worry about "children" showing up on holidays.

I was raised Catholic and was subject to mass incarceration 6 days a week.

Every day before school and of course on Sundays.

Sally, anything that undermines the family unit is supported by the left.

Undermine the family unit, you undermine the society - which is what the left has been doing for the past 100 years.

Feminism, divorce, and abortion are the unholy trinity of destroying a society.

Oh dear is it 1950 again? Having to tolerate loveless, hateful or abusive marriages because being a divorcee puts a woman beyond the pale?

greed for money and violence is what is undermining society.

You don't know much about history, do you??

You're a leftist, but don't understand the basic tenets of the ideology you support?? What sense does that make??

From Marx calling to "Abolish the family!" in the Communist Manifesto, to BLM saying,

"We disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement by supporting each other as extended families and ‘villages’ that collectively care for one another... "

    ---------------------------------

I will agree with you on one point though - violence is certainly undermining society.

Where we would differ is the genesis of that condition. Violence has increased because the family unit has been so severely weakened, that generations of kids are growing up without fathers.

Especially in the inner cities. Black illegitimate births have gone from 22% in 1960 to 75% today. The ramifications of that should be obvious, but not to liberals apparently.

Blacks make up 13% of the population, but commit 50% of violent crime.

    That is not an accident.

I’ve no idea what you think I’m talking about.

Single parent families, women and black people seem to attract your ire.

If the nuclear family is so great, why isn’t it more popular?

mind you, I don’t think it’s declining as much as you think it is.

Everything you read is just filtered thru a radical left wing filter. You're indoctrinated.

The numbers speak for themselves - and yes, fatherless homes in high enough percentages of the population are absolutely devastating to a nation.

More specifically, fatherless homes reflect a direct correlation to crime and poverty rates.

Blacks have the highest percentage of illegitimate births, and they represent the highest percentage of crime.

Intact black families on the other hand are just as socioeconomically successful as other racial demographics, sans asians.

You buy into the racial agitation and feminist rhetoric and propaganda,, and then just regurgitate it on social media as if it were true.

Do some actual research, would ya??
