It is 2015 , should governments outlaw religion?

    I don't understand your point. What more do you want done here? The courts have interpreted the 1st Amendment to forbid religious exercise by our public schools and schools that are sued for violating the 1st Amendment are ordered to follow the Constitution as written and interpreted. What you are basically saying is "People violate the law, therefore the law needs to change". That's like saying "People commit murder, therefore laws against murder need to change.".... Please explain your logic. If it's a matter of better enforcement then you need explain how to better enforce the law.

    If you are teaching about the history of religion it has to be taught as facts , teach the facts are- that God is a cha-rector from a book that people insanely believed to be of real concrete existence.

    I teach what Christians believe
    what muslims believe
    what Jews believe
    and what any other particular religion believes within the context of the class.



    Spanish came over her for land, riches, and Christian converts..... fact. You suggesting we just not include the "Christian converts" part is dishonest


    When I teach about 9/11, I will teach about Islam and what they believe. HOw would you suggest those events be taught in reference to religion.


    I don't teach if it's fiction or non-fiction. I believe God is real, you don't..... doesn't change religion's involvement in the world

    exactly how I do it.

    I won't even tell the kids what political party I belong to. I'm so good at arguing the opposite way of the class, no matter what position they take, that they can't tell one way or the other.

    Atheism, being an atheist, is indeed about belief, but it is not religion. Religion is organized and has structure, rules, etc. Secular Humanism is a religion. Simply being an atheist is not.

    And I'm not trying to take religion away. That would not work. Deist religions will go away when mankind has no more need of that security blanket.

    No, that is not going to work. If we begin to discriminate based on religious preference, nobody will be in government at all. Because if we as atheists can say it's not alright for someone that's religious to be in government, how is that any different than currently where some places have rules that say atheists cannot be in government.

    I agree with your sentiment, but not with your method. It's something we must tolerate because we create something far worse by trying to use the law to discriminate against thoughts.

    There you go, promote ......there is no God like all good scientists will tell you , so promote it, the constitution says you can advertise there is no God.

    Still, we generally know/realize when beliefs are being imposed. Religious freedom in this society is not a one-way thing.

    Are you saying people without religion are not organized or structured. I would agree. As a Christian, I would say that Christianity is also not a religion, but rather the truth and just the way it is.

    There is no such thing as a security blanket. A believer fears God. And as a matter of fact, Jesus said when they say peace and security destruction shall fall upon them. The only thing that would make this applicable, is to not have death. But you know as well as I do, that this will never be achieved.

    First, we in the U.S. have this thing called the '1st Amendment' to guarantee freedom of worship...free from government oppression (or atheist harassment). You've heard of it? Second, as you are coming across as an atheist, why don't you mind your own business. If we choose to believe in God that's our choice...if you choose not to believe, that's your choice.

    Your church wealth confiscation scheme sounds like something out of Marx's Communist Manifesto.

    It would be a lot more productive to outlaw political correctness. Since critical thought and cognitive reasoning cannot coexist with the doctrines of political correctness. The two are mutually exclusive.

    And the circle of life continues...It seems that the movement in America recently is to get back to the basics...Off The Grid living, tiny houses, seems that my ancestors, the Native Americans are starting to turn the tide back to the past...Where religion was communing and existing in nature not in spite of it. Some of the most popular TV programs today (in America) are all about getting back to nature.

    there is a lot of hedging of bets on death beds..... and I'm 100% ok with that.... The problem is not everyone gets that opportunity, like you stated....

    The thing people often hate about Christianity, I suppose, is that ability to live a horrible life, repent on your death bed, go to Heaven, while someone like Princess Dianna, was a very good person, but may not have been a Christian, and ends up in Hell.


    Timothy McVeigh could be in Heaven right now..... I don't know one way or the other.... but it's a real possibility, I suppose


    do you ever think that mankind will be without that need? Sometimes... when your life sucks... you have lost loved ones, your job, etc.... sometimes, the belief in something greater than you is the only thing that prevents you from trying to suckstart a shotgun.... even if God is not real, that idea, that faith, is important to people everyday, all over the world.

    The new atheist God , prove me wrong and he does not exist and is equal to all your gods and there is more evidential evidence to suggest my God than your God(s).

    Let us rumble Political types.

    I can prove God is a mass illusion of the masses.

    Scenario - An ant in the center of a huge cave is talking to a fire fly, they can see each other by the glow of the fire fly , but neither of them can see the cave walls as the light from the firefly is to weak in intensity by time it reaches the cave walls, and the intensity ''drops off' over distance becoming dimmer and dimmer like an automatic radial dimmer switch . However , neither the ant or the firefly know the science of this. Both the ant and the fire fly have a sense of being enclosed. However the ant and the fire fly could successfully travel to discover the cave walls. The ant says to the fire fly '' we live inside a space inside a solid, the solid must be infinite''.
    In panic the fire fly flew madly about, claustrophobic and confused, until he flew down a small passage that lead into a huge space that was also dark but there was something different about it, the above twinkled, the roof of the new cave was lit by ''fire flies''. Excited the firefly quickly flew back to his friend the ant to tell him the news, the firefly says ''' there is some good news and some bad news, I have found a passage that leads into another space through these walls, the walls are not infinite, we are living in a space within a solid within a space within a solid''. The ant looked on puzzled as he made his way in to the new space that smelt fresh.
    ''whats the bad news? '' asked the ant

    ''I can not travel to those other fire flies they are so far away and seeking a way through the cave wall'' replied the firefly.

    ''Do not worry said the wise ant, there is not another cave wall, the other fire flies are simply flying into space, two options give us only one possible answer'' replied the ant


    ''We live in a space within a solid and after that solid is space, so either now the new walls are infinite space or a infinite solid , or beyond the solid is more space'' said the Ant


    That is the basic meaning to the Chinese dolls, logic suggests infinite with a P=1

    Also the logic is and can be experimentally proven , the fire fly would vanish in the dark of the original cave relative to the ant when the fire fly moved away when it reached a vanishing point, P=1

    and logically the ant would vanish to the firefly to when the firefly moved away and reached its vanishing point P=1 boundary.jpg

    I couldn't answer that. I doubt that need for comfort will ever be able to be replaced, because it's not logical, it's emotional. Emotions don't need facts and objectivity. It's like offering a bowl of sand to a starving person.

    But the other parts of religion, the parts that explain where we came from, why the universe is here, why things work the way they do, those parts can be answered with truth, facts, and objectivity. Religion won't be needed to fill in the blanks anymore. So for some, that will spell the end of religion's use. But others as you say will still have it for the emotional effects.

    I'm not predicting when or even if mankind will no longer have religion. It will happen just as I said it would, whenever(or if ever) mankind has no more need of that security blanket.

    oh absolutely... for some... religion is never the answer.... but that's always been that way. I'm just saying, I don't ever see mankind's history without religion in it. There will always be religion. Whether it's real or not will never affect that.

    I quit reading when you said "you could prove" and then opened the analogy with talking bugs. but yet, a talking snake is too far fetched for you to believe.

    There is a far better security blanket, Discovered was nothing is ever lost, we are made of the same ''stuff'', this applies to us, we do not actually die, we just lose are conscious state of being and the ability to think any more, I would call this heaven, no more stress or worries, no feelings or pain.

    This is emotional weight you're attaching to these things. I happen to agree with you on that perspective, but since this is not objectivity, but subjectivity, my agreeing with you does not mean anything for any other person but myself. I can't expect the same things to mean the same things to the next person just because they comfort me. There are no rules to comfort and emotion.
