If you can't hear the racism in words like "darkest place where they are not wearing any clothes all day" then I'm afraid I can't help you.

Are you derailing your own thread by deflecting to Trump? Wasn't the purpose of your thread to discuss comments made by Joe Rogan?

Seriously? That's your excuse for him? That he didn't say what he meant? If that's the case, why does anyone listen to him? I call BS ... Rogan is a professional political pundit with a large following. Take him at his word.

And I don't give a tinker's damn who he supported or what party he belongs to, he's still a racist.

I googled all characters from all iterations of the Batman movies, TV shows, animated shows, and comic books. No such character name came up anywhere. Not a big deal, really ... I just think that if you're going to use an analogy here, you should know what you're talking about.

There are nudist colonies/tribes in Africa? And "dark places"? Really? </sarcasm>

    Technically inaccurate? ROFLMAO!

Nations all over the world that have racially varied populations use the term "black" to include anyone of African heritage who is fully or partially "black." They also use the word "white" to include all caucasians. Are you, and Rogan, trying to make it more complicated?

I don't have a beef here. This thread, as I keep having to repeat for those who jump into the middle without reading previous comments, is to point out to Rogan's fans that he is either ignorant or racist. If you don't want to acknowledge that truth, I can't help you.

I dunno. I googled all "Batman" characters in movies, TV, and print and that name didn't appear anywhere. Sorry if I got it wrong.

Rogan knows damned well that when we talk about race in America, we're talking about ethnicity, not melanin levels. It was ignorant and racist.

Exactly. Stupid can't be cured, but ignorance in the information age is a choice. Why would someone in Rogan's influential position choose ignorance?

That was Tom Hardy? I like him. He's one of those underrated actors who can be surprising. If you like him, I recommend a movie called "The Drop." Okay, my bad on the character name. I looked it up, didn't find it.

As for Rogan, I heard the context, and he chose ignorance when he knows quite well that when we talk about race in America, we mean ethnicity and not melanin. I can only assume that he chose his words for his audience, and look at all of the users just on this forum alone who are jumping up in anger and attacking me in order to defend him. That includes you.

The subject being discussed was dark skin color, ergo the term, "darkest place" to describe a place where people have dark skin. To hear "the racism" in this probably requires taking a black studies class at a modern day college or being a liberal who sees racism in everything.

What's actually happening, is you're reading it through a 1950's lens.

He's speaking very matter-of-factly about melanin and sun exposure, but you're thinking of 'dark' as an archaic slight, and "no clothes" as an observation of primitivism.

He's a 21stC man .. he can't be expected to know there are still some people walking around wearing 1950's goggles.

Yes, there are tribes in Africa who wear little and no clothes. I thought everyone knew that... Here's on article on one of them:
    https://www.faceofmalawi.com/2021/06/30/see-nigerian-tribe-that-dont-wear-clothes/
Theres also tribes that dont wear clothes in South America and many undeveloped Island islands all along the equator.

...I'm really having a hard time believing you dont actually know this.

You havnt pointed out how he's incorrect. Clearly he understands the common usage of 'black' to refer to 'race', and he's saying its weird that we still do that. Given that many different ethnicities are called 'black' even though none of them are the color black, and some of them are lighter in skin tone than others that we don't call 'black', I think 'weird' aptly describes the dynamic. TBC, I use the term as well, but its certainly a dated term that doesnt have much objective meaning.

Not exactly. Saw a bunch of extended clips of Biden for example being VERY racist, instead of a snipped quote. Guess that’s it eh?

If loads of black people who actually know him don’t call him racist I’ll take their word for it.
