First, you've got this backward, haven't you? Isn't the other thread discussing Neil Young's beef with Spotify and its hosting of Joe Rogan? Or if you want to simplify it then it would be Neil Young's beef with Joe Rogan: not Joe Rogan's beef with Neil Young. Google it and let me know what statement you can find from Joe Rogan in response to Neil Young. As best I can tell he's not responded at all - he's not the one with the issue. Find any statement Joe's ever released about Neil Young, one way or the other.

Joe's got issues, but labelling him a political pundit, well, it appears you are not familiar with the material he covers in his podcasts. Joe has a few hats he's worn fairly successfully. He was an accomplished taekwondo martial artist from about 14 until he quit at the ripe old age of about 21. He is first and foremost a standup comedian but his biggest payday has certainly been his sponsorship from Spotify, a $100M deal that he apparently has an unusually robust ability to enforce his freedom of speech and content to cover a wide range of material and some very controversial guests, such as complete jackasses like Alex Jones.

Joe Rogan talks a lot on his podcast, go figure. And he says a lot of stupid stuff and he's not always as good as he probably thinks he is in his attempt to portray himself as just being a dumb guy asking questions. But he clearly and regularly and with a bit of pride makes his point that no one should be listening to his opinion as having any particular value. And he does lean toward the right on some things and the left on others.

His statements on the particular podcast you reference here were just stupid and disingenuous but to characterize him as a racist for them ignores a large spectrum of hours almost without end of conversations he's hosted on his show. To a great extent, Joe's podcast is only as interesting as his guests, and in your example above his guest is of zero interest to me and it's unsurprising that the conversation went sideways with Joe putting his foot in his mouth.

The subject of his conversation apparently took less offense about it than you did. From your link above:

Reacting to the remarks made by Rogan and Peterson, Dyson told The Daily Beast that while both men were “too funny,” he took them “seriously because they have an influential perch on the culture.” Furthermore, he said he would relish the chance to go on Rogan's program to discuss race.

“Clearly they haven’t kept up with discussion about how race isn’t just about skin tone or color, but about a host of meanings determined in the social world,” he added. "Blackness is not about shade, but about the shade provided by traditions of Black thought, culture, and resistance. But in a way, Blackness is about throwing certain kinds of shade, and I’d love to go on Rogan’s podcast to share my thoughts and chop it up.”

The Daily Beast has its own agenda and likely wishes it had the audience that Rogan has. Or at least Justin Baragona maybe wishes he had Joe's audience.

    Disinformation ->

Big bold headline, nifty bracketed red banner, whatever....

His guests Graham Hancock and Randall Carlson make for a much more interesting show. Randall Carlson is fascinating and his theory about the end of the last glacial period and the facts that he asserts support his theory are quite interesting.

Here's one of maybe two or three interesting podcasts with both Carlson and Hancock, it's free and it's not on Spotify,

Oh i don’t think this quote was that racist. I’m referring to this comment:
"The ideal human is a white man's brain in a black man's body" - Joe Rogan

Ah, I might have to back peddle, fortunately thanks to his multi-million dollar deal with Spotify I no longer watch his stuff anymore.

His show with Graham and Randall is still fascinating though.

    No.

    He's a Bernie supporter.

To call him right wing is to identify ones self as ignorant.

    Excellent post.

The only "response" from Rogan I've heard of is the last few stand up shows he's done he's entered and left stage to Neil Young songs.

Someone suggested Joe should buy Youngs catalog and put it back on Spotify lol.

I'm thinking nothing of the sort. Where do you get that idea? If you want to know what I'm thinking and my posts don't explain it in terms you can understand, just ask me, instead of telling me what I think. Geebus.

I'm thinking, and I started this thread because, Joe Rogan, in his own words, is showing himself to be either racist, or clueless about racism, or both. It isn't a subject that someone in an influential position should be speaking about so cavalierly, ergo my assessment of cluelessness.

If that still isn't clear (written mediums can be tricky ), let me know, don't just surmise.

Now you're just being deliberately snarky.

As a matter of fact, it was back in the 60s where people were wearing rainbow glasses and talking childishly about different shades of black, white, brown, etc. So if anyone has reverted, it's Rogan, not me.

Geebus effing Mr. Magoo! I never claimed that Rogan was incorrect! WTAF has happened to basic reading comprehension in this country?

Please read my posts again, because you have clearly missed my point entirely.

You said he's either racist or ignorant... are you suggesting that he is racist or ignorant ...while also correct?

You do know that’s a joke right? And how is it racist? Is it that white men are superior or black men:) When black comedians imitate white people talking wimpy, is it actually funny or do you get enraged at the racism:). Grow a funny bone dude.

In what way did I pick any cherries? This may be just the one instance, but doesn't Rogan engage in this sort of game often?

I won't listen to someone who hosts and promotes guests that tell his millions of followers things like "the pandemic was planned" and "masks don't work" and "vaccines killed thousands of people" etc etc etc.

He did just yesterday try to tone himself down and promise to "do better."

There are places in Africa where they don't wear very many clothes. There are very backward places in the Dark Continent. It is ignorant to say otherwise.

He isn't incorrect about everyone having skin in various different shades of black, white, brown, etc. My objection is about his discussing a serious issue like a child would discuss it, implying that there is no "black and white" problem in society because so few are really black. Childish and dismissive.

What game? Depending on the guest he’ll BS with people and when he’s joking or being sarcastic it’s freaking obvious, something you can’t get from reading a headline. Don’t attempt to have an opinion on what you think he does or says when you obviously don’t listen. You probably think he’s alt right or something when he’s VERY Leftist in most beliefs. He’s basically a Bernie Bro except when it comes to guns, but he says what most people are thinking which is why he can get ANYONE on his show he chooses to talk with. And HE’s the one who chooses because anyone who isn’t a total shill is begging to get on. And people know he won’t let them lie because he’ll call you out, just like he exposed Gupta the ****ing hypocrite sham that he is. Liars won’t touch him. It’s why you know anyone who avoids him or calls him racist is an ignorant hack, like CNN. Their ratings are **** so they’re talking about him because people actually care what he and his guests have to say. Fewer and fewer care what anyone on CNN says because they are the exact opposite of his show.

It’s a joke by taking the stereotypical best each race has. To ignore that black people generally have some athletic advantages is to ignore reality and science. Just look at Olympic records and sports in general. See a pattern? Now go look at other less athletic industries. See a pattern? Yes. It’s a stereotype that isn’t true in EVERY instance but if it’s true often enough…that’s how it becomes a stereotype, which means there’s that honest nugget of truth to it. Exceptions always exist of course. But there’s still truth. That’s what comedians do. They highlight the uncomfortable truths.

Joking about black people being athletically gifted at the highest level isn’t racist. It’s just a fact illustrated by realty.

He also said white people have inferior bodies. Don’t think any white people get overly upset about that and probably laugh because hey, it’s true:) Why is that? Stereotypes can be funny.

Which comics do you like BTW?

I never said otherwise. Seriously, what happened to reading comprehension in this country? There certainly seems to be very little of it on this forum.

My point, FOR THE LAST EFFING TIME, is that it was either a racist or ignorant thing for someone with millions of followers to say.
