yep, now if she interferes with the other clerks issuing licenses, she will be in trouble again

I think she is dumb as a brick and will repeat her bad behavior.... jmho

just look at her past history with marriage

Frankly, the judge doing this so soon surprised me, but I'd like to see this issue settled sooner than later. If she is sincere in her beliefs, I don't see how she goes back to work under these conditions. She will be required to allow licenses with her name on it to be issued, which is what she went to jail for not wanting to do. However, $80,000 is a lot of money to walk away from.

I wonder if having Mike Huckabee, Ted Cruz, and a media horde made any difference in the decision.

it's sad to see, it's like those in the past that thought they had a God given right to own slaves, ect... we all know how this will end, but it's messy getting there

could one start a new religion that doesn't believe in paying taxes and refuse to pay taxes..... no, it's absurd

Huckleberry and Cruz are inconsequential...they are grandstanding and pandering a---holes.

Judge Bunning ordered that Ms. Davis “shall not interfere in any way, directly or indirectly, with the efforts of her deputy clerks to issue marriage licenses to all legally eligible couples.” He said any such action would be regarded as “a violation” of his release order.

If she violates these conditions, I'm quite certain that back she goes and rightly so.

Listening to her lawyer would not be surprised if she is back in jail tomorrow. Her lawyer seems to want another confrontation. He is saying the licenses issued are not valid and as the county clerk she will not recognize them meaning she will invalidate them and not file them and will no allow any to be issued it seems.

If she wants to keep her $80,000 a year job she should just shut her ignorant trap and issue licenses to qualified applicants like she's paid to do.

Huckleberry and Cruz already have the religious whacko vote sewn up. They will split the 15% between them and lose big. I'm sure Cruz will make a real ass of himself being the drama queen he is. Should be funny.

Cruz is a walking talking caricature of something or other...haven't figured out what yet. He's the biggest panderer of all panderers. He wasted no time in sticking his weird head up Trump's butt.

How can Huckabee and Cruz be Presidential candidates at this point. Her attorneys are already saying she will violate the law ???? My question is did the judge speak with her before making this decision..

As opposed to those who believed that owning another man violated Christs fundamental commandment and was the basis of the abolition movement. Would an atheist society ever have abolished slavery?

You think she was released because she chose to comply?

lol... She was released because the government just cant kidnap people - especially just for practicing their religion.

If you don't want to do your job, quit. Otherwise, expect to be fired. The arrogance of the religious right is sickening.

A secular movement inherently did. Jesus never said slavery was immoral. The Bible has no problems with slavery.

I wondered the same thing. I feel certain he must have talked to her lawyers. I can't imagine that he spoke directly to her, told her she must not interfere, and released her, if she told him she was standing firm, like her lawyers say. I get the idea that the lawyers are pushing this more than she is.

I think she was released because politics is in play. Why wait until after the holiday to release her? Maybe because Mike Huckabee and Ted Cruz couldn't be there until Tuesday?

Just a federal judge who likes beating up on women for power tripping.

The County Judge of the same County in Ky equally can issue marriage licenses. Did he? No. Is HE in jail? No.
The Governor of Ky stated he will not call a session to change law in Ky that contradicts the Supreme Court. Is HE in jail? No.
Has any official ever been put in jail for refusing a federal court order or refusing to "do HIS job? No.

Men who like to power trip over women certainly isn't anything new.

The judge is seeing his changes of ever being appointed to a higher federal court vanishing before his eyes - unless he believes he can order the President to appoint him and order Congress to confirm him. Democrat presidents don't nominate Republican appointees to higher benches, and I doubt any Republican president would vote to put that woman-abusing, Christian hating-thug on a higher bench.

He's young too. So he's stuck where he's at for the rest of his life - an increasingly bitter man. He put her in prison for a few days. He put himself locked on that same bench for the rest of his life. One direction or another she'll have to move on professionally in her life. He's stuck in concrete for the rest of his professional life. So WHO really won his own power trip battle?

It is NOT about the Supreme Court ruling. It is about his putting her summarily in prison with no trial, no bond, no jury - something uniquely done against her on behalf of gay activists - while the judge ignores all other Ky officials refusing to do anything in compliance with the SC ruling themselves. This was the judge's personal crusade against her seeking power and media praise.

f you ever go to court and go before a judge feel free to test that theory of yours, judges can and often do put people behind bars for contempt and they can leave you there for a year, and if after the year they can impose another charge of contempt and the clock starts over on another year, they can do it longer than you and in the end you will cave. From what I can tell she caved meaning her conviction was not nearly as strong as some wanted to believe. She will either conform to the judges orders or it will be back to jail for her and she will not be getting out as quickly next time around.

I get what you're saying about people abusing the power of their position, and I think it applies to this case, but not to the county judge or the governor. It's still early in the day, but I don't think anyone has sued the county judge or the governor for not issuing marriage licenses. Four couples did sue Kim Davis though. The whole "contempt of court" thing came at the end of that lawsuit, when those people that sued her and won were still unable to get a marriage license. There were 4 couples- two gay and two heterosexual. They now have them, so the judge let her out. If she continues to forbid her employees to issue the licenses and is put back in jail, that's on her, not the judge. All she has to do is let the other employees in the office issue the licenses, as they have been doing while she was in jail.

Because it's Monday and judges don't generally work on the weekends.... Because Bunning locked her up and it is his responsiblity to let her go...

I said a few days ago they were going to release her on Monday - indeed.
