    The bombing of Dresden Germany is probably what you are referring to. Dresden was not of much strategic importance, the British thought it was more of a morale target to break the will of the Germans. Many people have argued it should not have been carpet bombed.

    So what were the goals in Iraq, which resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis? If not lust for power, then what? And don't give me any crap about WMD or removing vicious dictators, because America has a long and woeful history of installing, financing and supporting them.

    You mean the IRA which your delightfully clever faux-Irish 'patriots' funded through NORAID, in order that they could buy guns and Semtex to bomb, kill and maim women and children in Britain? Thanks for that gift.

    All of the above plus we needed the troops that were sitting in Kuwait for Afghanistan. And please every situation is different.
    One does sometimes tend to reap what one sows. After five hundred years of trying to conquer Ireland and the mass starvation of the Irish people you got the IRA. Frankly in this instance you probably got what you deserved. For every woman and child killed by the IRA it is like British policies vis a vis Ireland killed a thousand Irish women and children.

    I've got an Irish name and some ancestry from there----but the IRA is a Marxist, secular group funded some by deluded Christians, not me.

    Anyone who supported the IRA should be ashamed of themselves.
