No, Mulvaney never made the connection between the aid being frozen and Trump asking the Ukraine President to look into corruption.

So this confirms that there is an investigation involving Ukraine (Durham's actually, i was right), the cooperation with which Trump demanded of Ukraine.... regardless of who in the DOJ was or wasn't aware of Trump's demands of cooperation.

You refusal to post pro-trump messages if such investigation exists was the right thing to do lol.

    Case closed i suppose?

Impeached or not, Trump clearly committed a felonious campaign finance violation. And official corruption.

Holding up military aid until a country agreed to look into the 2016 DNC server, is ****ing outrageous.

Republicans should be very disturbed by this.

the quid pro quo is clear

"you research into the 2016 DNC server, and we will give you military aid".

really sad and unpatriotic how this doesn't bother Republicans.

The case has continued to further heat up despite every instance where you claimed that "this latest revelation" proves that democrats are hunting a nothingburger.

    This will be no different.

The point is simple and what you lefties don't want to address. Politics is always in foreign policy and changes depending on who's in office, there was zero quid pro quo concerning Biden period. I watched the interview and the point was when visiting they always use the Whitehouse as a sounding board to announce things, like Ukraine cracking down on corruption, it happens with every single administration. They've been working on this for over 2 years and it's what you all wanted to know, who stole the emails and who was working with foreign governments to influence the election, I'm shocked you guys now don't really care.

He point blank said that wasn't part of any conversation nor does "Look into it" mean anything but that. Do you not want to know if Biden was corrupt as VP?

Please! It was only coincidence that the release of funds coincided with the WB accusations. Duh

Nothing to do with Biden, nothing to do with 2020, nothing to do with Trump's personal gains...

Clean up your corruption and assist DOJ investigation are perfectly legitimate and legal preconditions before disbursing half a billion dollars of aid.

Even if you still accept the notion that an investigation into Biden was not involved in this at all, the fact that Trump was demanding an investigation of the 2016 elect as a pre-requisite for sending CONGRESSIONALLY APPROVED MILITARY AID should be shameful and appalling to anyone who cares about national security.

The level of mental gymnastics necessary to pretend that an investigation of the 2016 DNC server conspiracy theory was not about Trump's personal political interests is astounding.

IS it even legal for the WH to set preconditions on funds allocated by the congress?

No, actually, even your line in quotes isn't the terrible thing that happened here...

"you research into the 2016 DNC server, and we will give you YOUR PREAPPROVED military aid".

Your way makes it sounds like the US was weighing whether to give Ukraine aid... We WEREN'T... it was fully approved by Congress and held up by a single person.

In a word, it's the textbook definition of Extortion. I don't like it when people use Bribery here, since normally you GET the bribe first to do the work.... Extortion is withholding...

Just like Mulvaney patiently explained to the dumb reporter, having legal and legitimate preconditions attached to foreign aid is routine and perfectly normal, in fact unavoidable

That's an interesting question, and I would probably say yes, under VERY limited circumstances. Mainly, I would think if something comes up AFTER the Congressional vote that makes the aid questionable (the war is over, or a new regime has taken over, etc), the WH can hold up the aid delivery.

Of course, I would think that would be the position of the entire govt, including DOD, State, and Congress, not just a single person...

Doesn't the congress need to approve of any preconditions?

He point blank lied as we can all see from the transcript and the multiple witnesses who said an investigation into Biden was being requested by Trump.

And if Trump had any ****ing evidence that Biden was corrupt, he would have asked his domestic investigative agencies to review the evidence. And if they had any need to seek cooperation from Ukraine, they would have made the proper requests.

Trump didn't have that evidence. That's why he personally requested campaign assistance in the form of an investigation against his domestic political opponent while he simultaneously and unilaterally withheld hundreds of millions in military aid and a requested meeting. And then he obstructed justice by trying to hide, lie about, and obstruct the investigation.
