The Van Allen belts. They are two, for accuracy, one internal, one external. Their extension is important, this is true, but ...

NASA programs its missions to the outer space to follow a route 30° inclined with relation to the terrestrial equator to reduce to the minimum the time of exposure to the radiations of the belts. Furthermore, the escape velocity [around 40,000 km/h] reduces a lot the time of exposure, making the quantity of radiation absorbed by the crew [which is also protected by the protections of the vehicle] not relevant.

This calculation had made before Apollo missions left the Earth and Van Allen himself considered even superfluous to use that inclined route since the speed of the vehicles [leaving and coming back] was enough to reduce the exposition to the radiation to a sustainable level.

And pay attention: because of the South Atlantic Anomaly, which carries the internal belt near to Earth, the International Space Station periodically passes through the belt and the crews don't suffer consequences [they don't become like the Fantastic Four!!!]. Not to forget that, again because of the SAA, also the shuttle has passed several times through the internal Van Allen belt.

It's not real. Stalin was real and he made his speech on Red Square on November 7, 1941. But the camera broke down and Soviet movie-makers couldn't shoot him. So, they did it later in the Moscow underground Stalin repeated his speech - for the history.

In this video the head of Soviet space project Sergey Korolev talks to Yuri Gagarin though radio. Is it real? No, it's also was shot later for documentary.

Americans landed on the Moon. They are proud of it. Why are you trying to scoff about it?

Actually the moon's orbit is moving away from Earth, at the rate of about 1.5" /year, according to the best science available. When the moon was much closer a day was a fair bit shorter than 24 hours .

As for the Apollo missions, I'm in my 60's so I was more than old enough to watch this monumental process unfold. This was the "dark ages" for our younger generations who have no idea of what we didn't have when compared to today's world.

I still remember 3 Apollo missions clearly, 8, 11 & 13. Apollo 11 was the moon landing, a magnificent human achievement, even now I remember it for what it was, absolutely breathtaking. What an extraordinary achievement......the world literally stopped that wonderful day in July 1969. The 50th anniversary is not far away.

Apollo 8 had it's own history making event, the first manned space craft to leave Earth's orbit and to orbit the moon for the first time ever, hoping the trajectory was right and they'd get back to Earth. For those alive at the time, Christmas Eve 1968 was pretty special. The Apollo 8 mission produced one of the most iconic photographs ever taken, one that is very, very familiar - see below.

Apollo 13 was very special for sheer courage, human ingenuity and showcasing an ability to deal with extremely adverse conditions and a terribly dangerous situation.

For those who believe the moon landings were fake, you have no idea how much I pity you - not being able to celebrate one of humankinds' greatest ever triumphs.

You don't need much thrust where there's minimal gravity to fight against as on the Moon, and with a near vacuum presenting no resistance.

In that case, my apologies for the attack. I disagree wholeheartedly with Kubrick. Heck, I know how to use VSDC Freeware Video Editor, and I could claim *I* helped the gov't fake the moon landing. Still, I do agree with you that the Western Media can be very deceitful, whether it's BSNBC altering the Zimmerman 911 call or Faux News running a story on "killer marijuana". They are all full of it. As for Colin Powell, he betrayed his own country when he signed on with the needless war in Iraq. At least we agree on the media

 

what Russia has to do with the story? Moon conspiracy comes from the West itself. USSR and Russia only covered up the US never going to the moon.
