For people whose families can afford in-home nursing or hospice care, the life-expectancy numbers for our frail and elderly are probably very similar to nursing homes.

You're clueless. Every patient needing a ventilator was put on a ventilator. Which bit of "a 4000 bed Covid purpose built hospital was not used" did you not understand? Which bit of me telling you that my GF Covid ward was only half occupied did you not understand?

We've been through this before! The majority of people that have died from the virus in old folks homes are not in nursing homes. Do you have a convenient short term memory? Let me remind you of the first old folks home that made the headlines after many of their folks died from the virus caught on a cruise. You think that people who are close to death are capable of going on months long cruises?

My GF worked in a Covid ward from the start of the pandemic and the ward was never fully occupied

 

You can close your eyes and chant your delusions. But life will continue to march forward without you.

 

There is zero reason for heart, kidney, and cancer deaths to decrease, except that many of those are counting as Covid deaths. There has been no breakthrough in treatment or cures for those causes of deaths, but they have decreased this year.

Excess deaths will be the best measure of Covid deaths, and we obviously won't have the 2020 numbers until we're well into 2021 and the counting clock starts over at zero with a new year of mortality data.

Anyone who says that there are 100,000 "excess" deaths from Covid is just making stuff up. Tens of thousands of people have died from chronic heart and kidney diseases this year who coincidentally had Covid as a comorbidity, even if that viral infection was with mild symptoms or asymptomatic. Those are being counted as "Covid deaths".

 

We have cruise ships dry docked all over this country doubling as nursing homes.
