I'm old enough to remember when early estimates from Imperial College said that 2.2 million people in the U.S. would die if we didn't lock down.

That was March. Two months ago. Even with CDC encouraging the padding of "other cause" deaths to add to the Covid numbers, we're doing pretty good.

All retirement homes in the US are referred to as nursing homes just because a nurse is present. That "nursing home" run by Life Care was a retirement home. We've gone through this before! Life Care Center of Kirkland web site states that the nursing home is mainly for those with dementia or need short term stays (respite care). Dementia patients are no weaker and no more unhealthier than your average retiree

 

Except for the scores that die every year.

Look at this. Twice as many people died in St Louis from gang shootings than died in the entire state of AZ from COVID19. Thank God that the gang bangers didn’t have any real knowledge and/or training on weapons otherwise the sentence would read 12 times as many died in St Louis from gang shootings.

Alzheimers is a dementia of early onset.
Most elderly patients have vascular dementia to go along with cardiovascular disease and every other disease of the elderly. They fill the hospitals with pneumonias, heart failure, aspiration, bowel obstructions, broken hips and every other disease of old age, every year.

All the major networks and media outlets reported on Dr. Bright's death estimates as if they were legitimate and credible, so that's where I'm setting the bar- WORSE than the Spanish Flu of 1918. A "darker winter" than that.

I'd say that an outcome far lower than Dr. Bright's predicted millions of dead Americans will be a smashing success, wouldn't you agree?

Texas has very specific definitions distinguishing "nursing care" from "assisted living care" living facilities, which are different from senior retirement communities.

Yes, 55% of Texas nursing care residents do have Alzheimer's. That doesn't mean that people with Alzheimer's don't also have other health issues, even though Alzheimer's is listed in the CDC's top 10 causes of death.

Vascular dementia is caused by a brain injury such as a stroke, they are not close to dying; they still have life expectancy of around 5 years and will die from the conditions that led to the stroke, not from dementia. Most elderly folks do not have vascular dementia. You clearly don't know anything about this subject. But hey, they are old folks who just fill up our hospitals so who cares if they die

 

I was pointing out his not knowing what the word scores means. There is no cure for Alzheimer's and the person will die from it if not something else before hand in the 10 years or so life expectancy and a significant proportion of people will get it. So 100,000 deaths per year is expected. But it no way can a person be described as close to dying just because they have Alzheimer's.
