That comparison is missing the element of perceived intentional negligence which the anti-mask/anti-social distancing motive I theorized would have. To be more on par it would have to include something like - people at the DMV going around tearing down stop-signs at busy intersections, or something. And also logic isn't necessarily a requisite here. Sometimes people that are angry and hurting take it out on those they deem responsible even if its random or unjustified. More infections = more sick = more dead = more grieving people = IMO, an increasing chance that someone one of those people loses their grip and just goes homicidal.
It seems like an odd overreaction, but the world is upside down lately so I wouldnt say its impossible. I wear a mask, but I didnt wear one early on, our local numbers were super low back then.
You are not sure if trump lied about anything in regard to the virus? Here is one: When he said that "we are 15 cases and very quickly going down to zero," that was an objective lie because he knew about the other 45 cases of Americans infected originally above the Princess cruise ship and because his health experts were already telling the country that community outbreak was inevitable. Here is another: When he said, "anyone who wants a test can get a test," that was an objective lie because his medical team was literally blasting about the need to ramp up production of testing because we already did not have enough tests. Another: When he said, "the tests are perfect...like the transcription is perfect," that was both ****ing moronic...and an objective lie because one of the most significant failings in the early days is the fact that the CDC test was faulty and they waited weeks to either give permission to test with the flaw or to authorize the States to pursue their own test.
You can not even explain why any of those points are wrong or similar to anti-vaxxing points. We have data that says 40% of those who recover do not form antibodies, thus we do not know that recovery automatically confers immunity. We have data that antibodies disappear after 2-3 months and we have no data as to what happens to those people when they get re-infected and thus, we do not know whether immunity is conferred for a significant period of time. Learn to address the points without insult.
No. I was talking about containment within USA. America has done a worse job of containment than almost any other country.
Nationally perhaps, I doubt NYC is anywhere down near 10%. As areas reach saturation extreme measures of lock down are no longer needed in that area. They can and will open wide without spikes in cases. Other than protecting vulnerable enclaves for the duration for those locations, the war is over. We're at that place in many regions, or very close IMO. Those areas that have over done it. Those metropolitan areas that have measured success with near zero cases are in a jamb without a vaccine. Again, from inception the intent of "flattening the curve" was to regulate hospital utilization at just under capacity. Crushing the curve or virus without cure multiplies the total pain in the end. Other than rural areas and States where R nought drops to <one due to naturally occurring extreme separation, think farms mountains and prairies, congested regions that haven't managed Covid-19 infections to utilize hospital capacity are vulnerable to explosive transmission that can overwhelm their hospitals. Politicians walked themselves and their constituents into a horned dilemma: draconian lock down or kill people, life or money, selflessness or greed. The disjunctive premise is false, always has been. Time to take the dilemma by the horns and pass on by.
Sincere question: does anyone know how much a test costs? What happens if they don't have coverage or the money, even though they have symptoms?
WRONG WRONG WRONG Go back and read your linked article and data within. It's speaking of Covid-19 confirmed cases not deaths. If you're doing this on purpose you are part of the problem and responsible for unneeded suffering and death. The fact that one is reporting such flawed numbers suggests a disconnect with the reality of the Covid-19 epidemic. Correct the errors or be gone.
It's free here in Vermont. Pop-up sites are available daily throughout the state. I think we're doing something like 1800 a day. Those referred by a doctor go to the head of the line, those from the area of the temp pop-up site go first come first served until the available tests run out. Something like that...
And when the Covid-19 test on the innocent victim comes back negative for active virus or positive for antivirus then will you cheer on the victim's relative that brutally aniholates the murderer's entire extended family and those that were ignorantly understanding in retribution?
No Trump didn't move to protect Americans in Feb and March when it could have been Stopped Because of Trumps inaction .......... the Economy had to shuttered resulting in 30 Million of Loss jobs and 127,000 American Deaths
...what the ****? Yes, this article is discussing deaths. The title of the article is " When covid-19 deaths are analysed by age, America is an outlier"
The masks are used to create prolonged fear. Even our Lord and saviour Fauci said they are useless. The powers that be don't want folks to have any feeling of normalcy. All part of the plan.
You posted this from the article in the economist: There, people in their 80s account for less than half of all covid-19 deaths; people in their 40s, 50s and 60s, meanwhile, account for a significantly larger share of those who die. The median covid-19 sufferer in America is a 48-year-old; in Italy it is a 63-year-old. Now, read the last sentence. Focus on the word sufferer. The median age of Covid-19 confirmed cases is 48 by the linked data. The median age of death by Covid-19 is NOT 48! You should have instantly questioned this, and had you you wouldn't have posted it. Go to the linked data. Look at the deaths by age range and tell me how in the hell one can get a median of 48 from these CDC numbers. Your claim is false. The median age of Covid-19 death is not 48 and while sloppy the article doesn't state that and the linked underlying data doesn't even make the claim or state median age at death. The study is about co-morbidity, case rates and hospitalizations with deaths only referenced in the small portion of the above captured table. Fix your post! Edit: oops, I cut off age range in the screenshot. Top is male then female. Next group <9 10-19 20-29 30-39 40-49 50-59 60-69 70-79 >80 Total
Guess they must add the lagging numbers on within the next few days, evening it out on the 7 day moving average.
To see the effect of lockdown on death rate you would need to compare similar locations and demographics and there is no better example than comparing Sweden with Norway and Finland
China did not lie. They said that they haven't seen any evidence of person to people transmision. A week later they stated that there is people to people transmission. Meanwhile Trump did nothing for three months except state that the warnings was just a hoax and the virus will disappear in a few days
It will be interesting to see the numbers quarter over quarter in the coming year. Well find that Winter and Spring borrowed deaths from Summer and Fall in older patients. I think we're going to be shocked and horrified to find that non Covid-19 deaths in younger patients rose dramatically in the quarters following the initial outbreak. We'll see a rise in some older non Covid-19 patients as well. When we locked down the hospitals, prohibited doctor visits, stopped diagnostic procedures and testing and relied on virtual medicine we accepted the consequences. Those costs are real and delayed diagnosis has caused disease progression and deaths. I feel the numbers will be sobering. Sweden may very well have a significantly lower death rate when we look at the event in total.
You are right, I was incorrect. I found the quote from the CDC article and it does reflect that the median age of the sufferers (not deaths) is 48. As you denote, in the chart on deaths, it is clear that the median would fall in the 70-79 age range and given how many are above 80, it is likely that the median is also around the upper 70s. The economist is behind a paywall for me and perhaps they delve into the numbers more specifically in later portions of the article or perhaps the author made the mistake of seeing the median age reference in the data and misunderstood.
That is Great news! Just think if it wasn't for the awesome manner that Trump managed this Virus there could have been , 2,000,000 news cases just in Florida. The good news about the suppression of Virus cases must be due to the miracle that Trump promised would come when it got warmer. Well thank God that the Trump predicted miracle went Viral so to speak. We should call Trump the Virus King, he is virally Awesome!
Honestly, if there were a way to protect the at risk by quarantine with 100% certainty we could infect the 90% at no risk and be done with this crap in 14 days. But seriously, if we keep thinking that the number of cases above 5 a day is a bad thing we'll never come out of lockdown. Tens of thousands of new cases a day are necessary if we are going to get through this with our society, civility and sanity intact. Call your Mayor. Call your Governor. Ask why the hospitals aren't being utilized to at least 70% capacity. Seriously.
Fauci only said mask were not needed in the beginning because Trump was unprepared and unwilling to fight the Virus
The truth is Trump first denied that there was a virus spreading. Then he belittled the danger by saying that we only had 15 cars and soon will be down to zero. He moved too slow or not at all to use the war materials act. He lmet the states fend for themselves and worse yet bad the Feds compete with thevstates for supplies thus driving the prices up and straining supplies. He pushed the states to open too early out of one side of his mouth then he told the states itvwas all up to them. He praised those groups who protested the social distancing and encouraged them to protest. You do know that many anti social distancing groups went to foreign states to protest., He is a bad example of not wearing a mask. The point us Trump is the impediment to us getting through this because he did not show leadership. He acted strictly fir his own self interest of wanting to be re-elected. I saw no one agency no politician no doctor say that the number of case threshold is 5. Where did that come from? If Trump had acted like a leader we could have crunched this virus earlier and not have had to quarantine as long. Did you notice except for California the states that ignored Trump have moved along? Did you notice that the states who opened early at Trump's urging are a problem? I did note that California is the odd man but California is allways the odd ball.
You're better off going to websites for the networks than actually watching the talking heads on any network. If you do the same for local news, you'll know what's going on in your community.
