Yes many politicians often have children who then grow up and adopt black children in order to gain political advantage AFTER you've already run for office.

To be fair, it was a guest who made the comment. Not sure how exactly a network can fire a guest. Also to be fair, MSNBC quickly got rid of Don Imus after his "nappy-headed hoes" comment.

I know, as an educator, I'd almost surely be fired if I made such a joke in class, but I'd like to believe that if I had a guest speaker who made such a comment, I'd just get off with a warning to better screen my guests...at least after the first incident.

 

Don't even try to rationalize away Melissa Harris-Perry's role in that. She invited everything that followed by singling out Romeny and his family for leftwingers to sneer at and then pointing out the nature of their adopted child. She knew the likely range of replies that such a set up would probably return, and she received exactly what she wanted at-the-time. It was only after she got called on her deliberate act of Race Baiting BY THE RIGHT that she realized that for one of the few times in leftwing political Mainstream Media history she was actually going to be held accountable.

 

Some of these guys think they're doing black people a favor by NOT calling them the "N" word.

If she was so opposed to it why did she set the gag up in the first place? Did they just want to show a nice family picture of the Romneys? F no. And if you are an educator you should already know this type of behavior should not be tolerated.

 

Well she did apologize for the comment. This guy basically said he stands by his comment. I bet if this fella genuinely apologized he could have gotten by.

She apologized only because of the backlash. If she was genuine she wouldn't have done it in the first place. This just proves racism is alive and well on both sides of the fence and when you have an administration that wafts those flames racists tend to flare up where they typically wouldn't making a bad situation even worse.

I think the guy should have held his ground, but he was probably getting a lot of hate mail and threats of reprisal from "free speech" liberals.

 

MSNBC didn't elect him to office; the people did so it would make sense if people pressured him to resign.
