I even doubt, that American guns are better than German guns. Germany is an important arms manufacturer.

Not as much as you may think.

Many people tend to forget that before Germany, the US was a worlds leader when it comes to liquid fueled rockets. Robert Goddard built his first liquid fueled rocket in 1926, over a decade before the V series rockets were built. And he had already been working on them for over a decade, having made his first rocket patents (liquid fuel and multi stage rockets) as early as 1914.

However, the German program received heavy government sponsorship, while Dr. Goddard's was almost entirely self-funded or by scientific grants from private organizations like the Guggenheim family.

And by 1944, the US was already building the Hermes class rockets. They had also tested the Private, one of the first successful multi-stage rockets. First Roswell then White Sands Proving Grounds were the center of rocket research in the US from the 1930's.

And do not forget, even Dr. Wernher von Braun admits that most of his research was based upon that of Dr. Goddard. Most of the V-2 was based on Goddard designs.

While the program did get a boost from German scientists and equipment, it was not as big of a leap as many people seem to think. They were folded into an already existing US program, they did not create it.

Can you quote the racist part or did you make it up completely?

The thread topic is defined by the OP.

You can't find out, if "he" may be a "she", but you know, that "he" is an racist that hates Americans. No surprise, Americans can't figure out, if a plane is a jet fighter or a Jumbo Jet before firing rockets at it.

So lets include "Germans" into it and "America and Americans are inferior" to twist words. It's the same thing like your "anti-Semitism" whining. Shouldn't a good lie have more than 25 % truth in it?

Berlin Seige, Cold War? Come on.

Do you understand that a poll about Middle East conflict could have different results depending on a forum having mainly Israeli or Arab voters?

I really don't get it. Just today I saw this Spiegel cover about how bad things go with the black-yellow coalition, n-tv reports about how leading Christian democrats are not happy with how things go, the media reports about polls and so, in fact, Germany does well in economic development in a difficult environment, we are on the edge to double our trade with China, unemployment rates are historically low, we can effort to help European countries, our foreign politics gets more independent and important almost every year. As to the nuclear topic, this goes on for twenty years and there is a consensus many parties agree to.

I don't see a fallacy here. You care to explain it?

The tech edge was rather on the British side with tanks and airplanes, however, Americans were important in winning WWI, maybe they were even deciding, simply because of their sheer numbers. The French soldiers were as tired of the war as German soldiers and France was actually close to a revolution at this time.

Aircraft carriers, landing crafts, radar and nukes.

The few German scientists did not do a lot in the US after arriving in the first time. They were not happy about it and Wernher von Braun was a good salesman. For him it worked with the Nazis and later with the Americans. He mainly made rockets popular, he did not do much to invent them.

Soviet Union got their share of scientists and technology, too, it was important for them to reach the German nuclear research center in Potsdam before Americans did.

It was in Berlin-Dahlem, close to Potsdam, but it belongs to Berlin, not to Potsdam.

Um...then what was the point of starting his poll?

I have a feeling that if the results had been in favor of your position, the poll would suddenly seem a lot more valid to you. I smell hypocrisy.

You do know Motorola is American, right?

iOS and Android and Windows are all American OSs.

    LOL

In spite of a heavily stacked deck, your poll is still in favor of my argument.

It sure seems pretty clear to me. And apparently to a lot of other people as well. It was a learning experience for you eh?

It still shows a trend, it only has to be set in perspective.

I have a feeling that if dinosaurs would still be around in Australia, kangoroo populations would concentrate along the coast lines. Probably, we both will never know.

Naturally the perspective must support your own conclusion...thats the only way the poll could be valid, right?

Have you considered the possibility that many people voted one of the lower two options merely because they dont like the US?

Does Motorola still build cell phones in the US? This was the question.

There are people who don't like the US? How should this be possible?

As far as I know, there is no cell phone production in Germany, for instance. We had Siemens, Nokia and maybe Motorola (I would have to check the last one, maybe it was a big distribution center, not production, it was somewhere in the North, Flensburg or so ...).

has nothing to do with defense but with the chemical industry. Germany was by far the best at mechanical engineering and Switzerland and the USA were pretty good. Japan was by far the best at electrical engineering (using the automobile industry as a model). The USA skills have been mostly exported but there are some key corporations that still exist in the USA with computer and generic engineering skills. From a defense perspective, no country even comes close to the level of investment in the USA so a comparison isn't really fair at this time unless countries are doing clandestine experiments.
