As someone who very much wants the British Royal family removed from any formal role in his nation I try to pay as little attantion as possible to this particular bunch of privileged, inbred Germans. So, I have nothing to say about how good or bad Phil was at Princing.

Something I am a good deal more interested in is the fight against Fascism & Imperial Japan during WW2. On that front Phil is alright by me. He started the war in a British Naval college, graduated top of the class & spent virtually all of the war doing one of the most dangerous jobs in the Royal Navy - serving on a destroyer. He served in the Atlantic, the Med & the Pacific in some of the most notable naval actions of the war. He took actions that saved he lives of others and did damage to the totalitarian forces he faced.

Given his connections it likely would have been easy enough for Philip to get a much safer posting. He didn't take advantage of that and spent 4+ years risking his life fighting for the right side in the most important conflict in modern history. Whatever else he did or didn't do wiht his life, that is something worthy of respect. Thank you for your service & RIP Prince Philip.

Isn’t it a kind of morbid voyeurism watching a funeral and gawping at distress when it’s someone you don’t know?

How odd. They are going to mourn for a time and then look for a replacement god.

The Queen is rather stoic .......and would be inclined to keep her emotions very private.........while following Phillips motto of"get on with it"
About Harry....... well, the way they chose to step away from their royal duties via social media........and everything that followed........... was bound to create a rift. Meagan was not going to comply with the royal protocols (which she found restricting and suffocating) and he chose to support her...Of course that infamous interview did not help .. That is his choice.. But he has to deal with the consequences.......and ripple effects . He CHOSE to take the losses that came with his decision. Because of him and Andrews stepping away from royal duties .....there will be no military uniforms........ at the funeral. Harry and William will not be walking side by side.........as they will be separated by Peter Phillips......their cousin. Visuals & staging speak volumes in how the Royals operate.

With Phillips d death.....the entire family dynamic has shifted.

Harry is his own person. Princesses Margaret? Anne, Andrew, Edward? What of them? Charles is the important character, as is William.

Watched the funeral live. Absolutely perfect (IMHO:) Elegant inits simplicity......yet following Prince Phillips wishes. Poignant....... to see the Queen sit alone........ what a powerful and heart tugging moment. His absence was so profound ......and sad.

Tastefully done. would be an understatement.

I'm sure their falling out has been greatly exaggerated by the media.

I watched most of it. I had to mute it whenever the singers were doing their thing. I can tolerate one number like that, but not a string of them.

Not surprising, I don't think the funeral was the right time to mend fences:
