My great-grandfather was a chief doctor in the Omsk regional clinic. In 1953 the last Stalin's company of arrests had started. It was the doctor's plot. Because of it my great-grandfather lost his post and got a heart attack. His colleague (the main pediatrician of Omsk Region) was arrested. NKVD blamed him he killed children and buried them in a clinic's garden. This doctor begged to dig the garden, but NKVD officer said: if I already got such information, why have I to check it? What does "hypersonic" mean anyway? I am told it means Mach 5 and above and who cares. ICBM's travel at Orbital Vellocity and can go no faster or they will fly away from the Earth entirely

 

The new thing is that they can maneuver on the way down as they approach the target. That means that its much harder to predict their path, a key element in knocking them down.

That isn't what is meant by "hypersonic" missiles. The current term "hypersonic" refers to long range cruise missiles than can fly at sustained Mach 5 or above speeds under continuous thrust the whole time and capable of maneuvering during all phases of flight.

 

I noticed that whenever Biden went to Ukraine as VP, he would give them a monetary gift that was to be used only for military hardware. It was the encouragement Kiev needed to restart the war which they did as soon as Biden left.

Well things haven't changed with Biden as president. Kiev is being armed now to the hilt and they're using Turkish drones as well. I get the feeling Turkey might be signing it's death warrant together with Ukraine.

UNITED NATIONS, October 29. /TASS/. Kiev plays a very dangerous game using drones for attacks in Donbass, Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vassily Nebenzia said at a press conference on Friday.

"Yes, I saw these reports about these Bayraktar drones. One of them bombed one of the artillery positions of the rebels," Nebenzia said in English when asked a corresponding question. "I think that is a very dangerous game by the Ukrainians."

The Russian diplomat pointed out that the use of that warfare contradicts the Minsk accords. According to Nebenzia, the Ukrainian forces’ game with drones "may lead to consequences which the Ukrainian side may not even imagine.​

That is a dangerous game, and I think that they should realize it although I am not optimistic they would," the Russian ambassador concluded.​

The U.S. had history during the Cold War of backing off when they thought the Soviets were getting too worried about war. The Reagan Admin. did so after they heard about the Soviets getting all riled up over Able Archer.
