Although the cinematography is from HWY or another of Jim's films, I think it lends itself well to the tune.

From his collection of fine works, You Must Buy Your Wife at Least as Much Jewelry as You Buy Your Horse, a special selection from Dalton Wilcox

    The Lonesome Cowboy

A cowboy is a lonesome man
There's none more lonesome in the land,
He rides atop his only friend
His horse, a companion on whom he can depend.

His woman may be miles behind him
Sadness and desperation may find him,
But a cowboy who's wise will turn to the earth
To lend him solace and even mirth.

The earth from which all beauty springs
Such bounty, forth she always brings
He'll dig a hole with cracked, scorched hands
Pour in all the water that hole demands.
Until that earth is moist, just right
The earth'll never put up any kind of a fight.

His cries of joy no one will hear
In case I am not being clear,
I'm saying that cowboy is going to f*** a hole in the ground.
We all do it, that's what I have found.

Any cowboy that knows that lonesome hell
Can fashion a land virginy well,
If a cowboy's seed worked like other seeds
There'd be cowboys growing across the plains like weeds.

Although even I'll admit,- I don't take the time, like I have years past, to come up with novels for Thread OP's, or the odd mini-series type discussions, with entire scenes played out in a reply, - I really DO read through all the threads I interact with, ... And many more I do not ...

This place is a welcome oasis for me.

Really helps me become a bit distracted from issues here with regards to personal family things, & able to focus better on global events.

    Thanks Y'all.

    I mean that.

I have encountered many things on the road, but today was a little different. Today I passed a car wash pulled over to the shoulder. Apparently they are prefabing those like they do double-wides now. At least it had the courtesy to not be blocking up everything like the day I got stuck waiting an hour for an old Victorian era house to make its way down the street I had to go down.

It's cool to see houses or sheds being moved on streets... Well, not being stuck by one I guess!

As a kid, I helped move our 1950's era 2 car garage -intact- down the road to a neighbor who bought it.

Quite a task.... Ended up removing the center divider area in the front, rolling an old hay wagon in it, deflating the tires, securing the walls of the garage to the wagon, airing up the tires, & away we went!

I helped move an outbuilding like that when I was in my teens. Took all freaking day and the thing ended up half falling apart when it was being taken off the truck. I spent all day saying to the know it all grown ups, "You know, this thing is going to fall apart when we take it off the truck don't you...." so at least I walked away with a little spring in my step to be vindicated. It is one thing to drag an old building onto a rollback. It is something different entirely to try to drop one off of it.

Now that I think of it, we ended up having to cut like 2 feet off the bottom of our project, & haul it over later.... First attempt saw the damn thing bottom out after the apron of the driveway!

I remember saying something about it to my pops, & was brushed off...

LOL, then I got to snap out the line, & fire up the Circular saw!

For us it was that they failed to see that wenches pull, they do not push when you get there, though there were a few sharp banked turns on the way to the destination you could definitely see those 90 degree walls swaying.

    Gotta be honest.

Had I seen today in my life, 10 years ago, I'm not sure I'd be where I am, now 10 years later.

Had I seen my life today, ten years ago, I would think I'm hallucinating. I would have told you it wasn't possible.

Damn near anything really is possible if you set your mind to the task and never lose faith. Actually faith is a bad word. You can only achieve what you first believe. I think that is the lesson.

Just surfing YouTube and found an old movie clip with a college friend of mine in it. He is the guy with the glasses. He later returned to college and I carried his ass through a year and a half of Chemistry. :D Funny guy. We had a blast! Back in the 70s he wrote a hit song and made some serious money for a time. He once told me he probably spent a million dollars on drugs and hookers. He also had a chance to be on the original crew of Saturday Night Live but passed in order to make the movie Phantom of the Paradise - the clip below. Back in the day, he and Lorne Michaels knew each other. But Jeff thought SNL was just another crazy idea that would go nowhere. Whoops! But he did okay. When we were hanging out, he was still pulling down 5K a month over ten years after his hit song, and he still owned a silver mine.

Many people will probably remember his hit. He released on an album but it didn't take off. then England Dan and JFC re-released it and it topped the charts.

I always like this song from his album.

    This one too.

From the same movie, one of the few songs by Paul Williams that I really liked.

    Not 100% sure.

Not that it matters really, in the vast scheme of things, & I don't pay too much mind to my count totals, but the past week or so I have noticed a few times when the numbers seem off from the night before.

LOL, I know one time in particular, whilst flinging a few boogers w/ a cheeky chap, there was a string or so deleted, & I understood.

Honestly, I just want to be sure. Hate to waste some of my nuggets!

Gotta be honest. This board has the highest Rules number total, than any other board I've ever participated in, as a user.

    I'm losing my mind.

My daughter's handeling her chemo OK, but the search for a marrow donor plods on.

The Gleevec has things under control.... Whatever that means... But no signs of remission, or elimination.
