    The Preamble.

If you're still asking me that, does that mean you disagree with the SCOTUS interpretation of that as a sufficient basis for their ruling?

What language in the constitution says that a state may not leave the treaty?

I quoted for you the justification that the SCOTUS used.
If you're wanting to say you disagree with it, then say so, don't just pretend as if it isn't there....

So the treaty contains no language prohibiting a state from exiting the treaty.

If you want to ignore the Supreme Court (and history) and try to have your state succeed, its not going to go well.

As I said in an earlier post, the treaty contains no language that forbids any of the sovereign states from exiting.

I'm just say'in, succession hasn't worked out well in the past, and there's no indication it would work out any better if tried today.

I'm just saying that the treaty has no prohibition on any state leaving said treaty. If you can point to such language, I'd be interested.

Yep, I hear what you're saying. If you want to know more about it though, I suggest that you should look back into the Texas v. White Supreme Court case I referenced earlier.

I have. It doesn't reference any language in the treaty that prohibits any of the sovereign states from exiting. The treaty doesn't contain any such prohibition.

The Law of the Land contains a Supreme Court Ruling that prohibits any state from exiting the union. Meta provided the text that the SCOTUS used to establish that what was INTENDED by the Founding Fathers was a PERPETUAL UNION of states which is probably why they did not provide an exit provision.

The Law of the Land is not absolute and can be changed. Nothing is stopping the proposal of a Constitutional Amendment defining the conditions under which a state may exit the union. Such an Amendment could be passed by Congress, signed into law and then ratified by 2/3rds of the states thereby providing a means by which one or more states might chose to exit.

However under the CURRENT Law of the Land there is NO PROVISION by which any state can leave the union.

So you also can't provide the language in the treaty that prohibits any state from leaving the union.

Are you denying that ALL states are obliged to uphold the Law of the Land?

In which case the CURRENT Law of the Land does NOT provide any means for a state to exit the union.

    End of story.

Does the treaty that the states ratified have any language forbidding a state from leaving?
