If they can't afford it they should move, most of the US isn't like that.

Here is my question on the minimum wage: If 'Bob' is a minimum wage worker and the minimum wage goes up, let's say he gets paid $500 more that year. Prices of things Bob buys will go up also due to the minimum wage, so if Bob also has to spend $500 more where's the gain other than to virtue-signaling LW politicians?

What they need to do is vote out liberal politicians.

Business cannot pay their employees poorly. The employees wouldn't agree to work there.

Actually, it is very available, in fact google provided the answer in 0.64 seconds

"Nov 13, 2018 - In 2016, the top 1 percent of taxpayers accounted for more income taxes paid than the bottom 90 percent combined. The top 1 percent of taxpayers paid roughly $538 billion, or 37.3 percent of all income taxes, while the bottom 90 percent paid about $440 billion, or 30.5 percent of all income
    taxes."

Anyone who has made a business selling plastic bags and not made a change to their business plan in the last 5-10 years was not paying attention.

1% of a min wage salary is much less then 1% of a million dollars+ salary... percents do not show the full picture

They paid the most taxes because they had the most income. What percentage of the nations wealth do they control. the top 1 percent controls 41 percent of the nations wealth. the bottom 90 percent controls 22% of the nations wealth. so to my mind a more fair and equitable tax structure Would be for the top 1% to pay 41% of the taxes, The next 9% to pay the other 37% as they control 37% of the wealth and the bottom 90% pay for the 22% of the wealth they control. I believe taxes should be based on the ability to pay.

No, of course not. No one does except for some low skilled women who come and go in and out of the workforce.

Taxes are not based on services received. We have user fees for such. Taxes are assigned by ability to pay throughout history. The peasant with ten acres paid less that the peasant with 15 acres. When the communists come to take the top 10 percents 80 percent of the wealth. Who fights the war so that the rich get to keep thier money? Fidel didn't take the factory workers house, he took the factory owners house.

Garbage collectors are always in high demand, but people are so poor (thanks to Republicanism) that if a worker wants more money, he gets replaced with someone willing to work for peanuts.

Because the prices of the things that the min wage earner buys is not 100% due to labor. Take Mcds. 2/3 rds of salary is paid to floor workers and the labor is 27% of the cost of the happy meal. Your meal cost 6 bucks 2&% goes to labor or 1.60 x 2/3 rds making min. is about $1. if you increase his salary by 50% the cost of your meal goes up $.50. Now if that guy is now making 8 per hour he can afford to by $320 worth of $6 happy meals about 53 of them. ( I hope he likes burgers) now with the 50% raise he gets $12 per hour or 480 a week and 80 happy meals.
Now his baby sitter works for 100% labor in that case when he pays her he does not gain any benefit.

Retail labor costs run 10-20% so even less of an impact on clothing and supermarket. The people who lose are everyone making more than 15 or whatever the new min is. Up here in Boston fast food pays kids $15 already after 90 days.

I had no luck; all I found was information from partisan websites on both sides.

And if you used the 'ability to pay', you'll be looking at a nation of non-productive under-achievers who believe they are owed a living.

Now while that may sound nice to some, it's not the foundation of this country, and should never be.

The minimum wage is for teenagers and retirees. No serious person tries to support a family of four on a single minimum wage. That's very, very rare and extremely idiotic.
