If Le Pen wins it will give her opponents a conspiracy theory to latch onto.

Scrolling through that link I saw how the socialists got humiliated.

No surprise there. Russia seems intent to see the US and the EU in disarray. They're probably hoping to pick up the pieces and come out much stronger in the aftermath.

I guess i can study Sweden and pick out one of your government and declare that since that person supports her, so does Sweden.

The EU is in disarray regardless. What should have stayed a trade bloc, tried to become a national country of countries. Suffice to say, the organization collapsed on its own hubris. Whereas in the US at least, the 50 States were never their own countries(Hawaii being the exception.) Should Madam Le Pen be victorious, France will have a female Napoleon :). It will be the revival of the French Nation and a strong ally of the Secular West.

Europe will be a mess. That's what Russia wants - no organized resistance. No more EU sanctions on Russia, possibly even no more NATO. Oh, they would love that.

    Indeed.

I get the impression Euers are disenchanted with the EU so nationalists are agitating with more success. There has always been nationalism in Europe, its quite a "European" ideology, and with good reason due to their strong and differentiated national identities.

Until the EU's advent the different countries of Europe were quite distinct and proud of their differences. The EU brought homogenization and there were advantages for merchants and trade. Then they moved into standardizing goods and services that previously differed in each member and this wasn't that well received.

With a massive bureaucracy imposing enforcement of all sorts of regulations without regard to local traditions and usage, the nationalists gain traction appealing to their constituents over the advantages of retaining long established practices over applying what appears to be some bureaucrat's overreach.

With the EU confronting sluggish economic recovery, bureaucratic belt-tightening impositions from afar nationalists added another grievance which found many supporters among the huge numbers of un and underemployed.

Finally this immigration onslaught seems like made-to measure for nationalists, they find followers growingly sensitive to their national identity unhappy the same remote functionariat imposing quotas of immigrants quite unlike them.

It has no more to do with political ambitions than Nigel Farage did with Brexit. Russia is adamantly against the new world order and the liberal democracy that Soros and Merkel are trying to impose on the world that benefits a few at the expense and suffering of millions.

Yeah right, they just love the Kiev junta, Lithuania, and the rest of the Baltic states with their fascist/Nazi apartheid systems towards the Russian population.

    Tell us another one Litwin.

Actually Putin is a realist and believes people within each culture have intrinsic differences and that those differences should be respected. He's adamantly against the chaos and destruction the new world order ideologues have reaped in the Middle East.

Think of it, no more Nato, no more wars, no more killings, no more migrants. Anyway the EU is a mess. Do you have any idea what the unemployment is in Southern Europe? Italy which is the third largest economy, is ready to go bankrupt. This is why Nigel Farage has been insisting that Britain leave. He said since its inception the only nation that has gained from the EU is Germany.

The Rooskies ARE anti-fascist, but they will take LePen, because she would drag France down the isolationist/Nationalist hole that Britain fell into with Brexit - anything that weakens the West, Putin is for. Chaos in the West is something Putin dreams of.
    No wonder he likes Trump.

Well if Putín really believed people had cultural differences that should be respected, he would not have sought to disregard their expression in Ukraine and Georgia.

Putín is simply fishing in turbulent waters, he exploits the growing popularity of nationalists, knows the tune very well as he's been promoting nationalism in Russia for a long time.

It doesn't matter whether Russia loves it or not, the fact is is that the EU as an organization is finished. It can't support the mid-tier countries making up the vast majority of the EU, and the nation-States like France and Germany are being overwhelmed. "Keep yourselves in a suboptimal union because those Ruskies would love for you to break up."

Actually, I think Russia would fear a resurgent France and England, and/or if Germany were to be center-right. Those independent, stronger nations are no longer keeping the EU afloat.
