They were working a deadend job, and with the help of the government getting foodstamps, they make ends meet. And if this person in the article or not accepted foodstamps is not relevant. We all know there are hords of people working dead end jobs where the government helps out companies to make the employees make end meet. Those companies need to go, and make room for companies who pay better wages.

I have a better idea. How about if Seattle gives those businesses waivers similar to the waivers businesses received in Pelosi's district when it was determined Obamacare would cripple them? In that regard, Seattle won't be taking money from people in neighboring areas to subsidize the pain they inflicted on their own populace.

And all the others be having higher wages, so the government doesn't need to help out companies by adding foodstamps to the salary.

So either way the government is taking money from someone and giving it to people who don’t have a skill set beyond being a busboy.

The democrat party is very scary! Not only do they want higher wages but they also want the Tax payer to foot the bill for their FOOD while we get ass pounded at Mc Donalds for ours, and on payday! While their buddies join the ranks of unemployment and once again we have to pay them with our tax money!!

At some point it will just be cheaper to just supply the goofs with Free rent, food, entertainment and enough drugs that they can no long function outside their domicile ¯\_(º¸º)_/¯

Quite a lot of them, actually. But they're starving because opioids are a hunger suppressant, not because they cant get food.

The entire idea of a minimum wage is there for a reason. A group of people who work, but can only afford the basics like food and shelter do not add anything to a consumer market.

Right wingers are scary. They would refuse to pay a honest days wage for a honest days work, and demand that the government just makes it work for their employees so they can live large.

The minimum wage in Seattle is going from $15 to $15.75 in January.
Generally labor is about 25% of expenses for a restaurant.
So if you got fired it's probably not because your boss couldn't absorb the loss or increase sale his price by 1.25%.

It's yay for most. There is a massive amount of money that goes around Sealte and the US as a country. Some people are making fortunes, while the government needs to help massive companies like Walmart and McDonnalds with aid for their thousands and thousands of employees.

So what. The government is not there for companies to underpay their employees that much that the government is needed to help out. There is plenty of money that flows around in the US in order to afford a higher paycheck somewhere somehow.

Why should tax payers have to subsidies stupid economics? Besides you clearly don't give a rats ass that some will lose their jobs so that others can make more, so why should the tax payers give a damn?

Indeed. Companies need to pay a honest wage for a honest days work. Not a messed up salary where the taxpayers must chip in to make it work.

Do you really think the CEO of Boeing should have his bonus when 2 of his fail planes crashed and killed people,.. and after all this time still doesnt have them planes up and running? We all know that them CEO's were passing bonuses around and having good parties while the taxpayer was bailing their too big too fail businesses. How about you go and order a Trump steak...
