    Spell-check didn't cause that embarrassment...

Spellcheck would have told him that the wrong word was spelled correctly.
That kind of reassurance is always a trap for the unwary.
    He has my sympathy. ;-)

It was believed the presence of yourself has ceased on these forums.

Apparently such is not actually the case.

At least its a real compromise this time since I actually plan on turning this into legislation if I get elected.

He doesn't trust people, but he trusts people that are in government.

I find government is the quickest and best way to bring about political, economic, and social change. Fight to get into the government, and fight to pass legislation that changes things.

Nope, how about abolishing districts on the state level and having proportional voting where we have dozens of parties and the unicameral legislature has 1000 members and a party gets 1 seat per 0.1% of the vote, and guess what, no party gets close to a majority and thus coalitions and deals have to be made across a broad spectrum to get the "Speaker position and legislative whip" and to pass legislation meaning more people are represented than in this current system.

How's about we just limit them to almost no powers?

That kind of thinking is very anti-American.
    I blame the schools.

"Society in every state is a blessing, but Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one: for when we suffer, or are exposed to the same miseries BY A GOVERNMENT, which we might expect in a country WITHOUT GOVERNMENT, our calamity is heightened by reflecting that we furnish the means by which we suffer."
    COMMON SENSE, Thomas Paine.

Schools are the government, and self promoting by design

Please Please Please do tell us what office you are running for and where.

We'll use this thread to get it to as many of your future constituents in your district as possible so they can read it and see just what you've got.

    Please Please Please!

And yet the united states government cannot even implement a simple coronavirus relief bill, without loading it down with proposals diverting millions to billions of dollars away from the people, to fund entirely unreleated matters. The nation is presently in crisis, and congress is arguing about whether or not to divert relief aid to promote wind energy development.

1st most of that list is already active everywhere except of course for #1. Every major city already has suicide hotlines.

2nd over 2.8 million people die in this country every year. Somewhere between 30 and 35k of them involve guns and 2/3 of those are suicides. That's 35 in every 28000

    We have dozens of parties.
Why do you think you'll get enough people to agree with you?
States that have a bicameral legislature will need to amend their constitutions.
Why do you think you'll get enough people to agree with you?
Why do you think a significant number of people will suddenly stop voting for Democrats or Republicans?

    They won't.
Two key talking points that the Dems and Reps pump down our throats, and get swallowed by 95% of the people:

    Wasting your vote
    Non viable

That's only in FPTP the moment they have a chance to vote for another party and have that vote count they will.

So, you don't have an actual reason to believe people will agree wit you.
    Thanks.

The PEOPLE agree with me, the challenge will be getting 2/3 of the legislature to agree to upend their system of being elected and decided to go to a system where "3rd parties" now have a shot.
